Are you passionate about helping young people thrive?

Merriwa Community Services (MCS) is looking for amazing, caring people to support young individuals in out-of-home care. If you're studying (or planning to study) Community Services, Youth Work, Social Work or something similar — this is your chance to gain hands-on experience and make a real difference.

The Role: Disability Youth Engagement & Development Worker

Support a young person one-on-one to:

• Navigate daily routines (including personal care)

• Manage emotional and behavioural challenges

• Build confidence, independence, and life skills

• Stay connected with their community and support networks

You’ll work as part of a dedicated care team, alongside families, schools, and professionals — all focused on helping young people grow, heal, and thrive.

What You’ll Bring

• Great communication skills and emotional resilience

• Willingness to provide personal care and follow daily routines

• A team-first mindset, with empathy and professionalism

• Studying or qualified in a relevant field (Cert IV in Child, Youth & Family, Disability, or similar)

• Valid Working with Children Check, Police Check & NDIS Worker Screening

• Full driver’s licence

Bonus Points For:

• Experience supporting young people with disability or trauma

• Familiarity with the Therapeutic Care Model

• A background in community services, youth work, or allied health

• Knowledge of care planning and relevant legislation

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
