About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will be providing person-centred active support to people living with disabilities in Illawarra

We have Casul roles available in our Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Lifestyles programs. You will provide various supports including personal care and daily living assistance. You can expect to work across a 24/7 roster, availability to work sleep over shifts is essential

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to work independently supporting clients with daily personal care such as bathing, shaving and toileting
  • Provide mobility assistance by lifting, transferring and hoisting clients
  • Ability to follow person-centred active support plans and behaviour support plans respectfully
  • Track and document the changing needs of clients through thorough record-keeping
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, their families and your team
  • Advocate for client choice and control in a way that is safe and compliant

Skills & Experience

  • An unrestricted Australian driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Committed to work flexible work hours across the week, including public holidays and sleep over shifts
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic technology and software on a mobile and desktop
  • A current First Aid and CPR Certificate

Successful candidates will be required to clear all state-based probity checks; including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check, NSW Working with Children’s Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
