About the Role

The client presents complex behavioral and medical needs requiring specialized care, including:

Behavioral Challenges

  • Absconding.
  • History of property damage.
  • Physical aggression and self-harm.
  • Verbal aggression.
  • Cluster behaviors: repetitive questioning, excessive demands, physical aggression, and property damage.

Medical Conditions

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED).
  • Auditory Processing Disorder.

You will provide trauma-informed care, ensure medication compliance, and foster a safe and supportive environment for the client’s personal development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily living support, role modeling, and capacity building.
  • Supervise and encourage mobility exercises and personal hygiene.
  • Support healthy meal preparation and ensure adherence to dietary needs.
  • Engage in meaningful conversations and foster trust.
  • Set boundaries effectively and manage challenging behaviors.
  • Promote skill-building activities and encourage independence.
  • Monitor the client’s wellbeing, including physical and emotional health.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of care.

About You

  • Compassionate Connector: Build meaningful relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Calm Under Pressure: Handle challenging situations with confidence and care.
  • Experienced Professional: 2 years’ experience in NDIS or 1 year in Child Protection, Residential Care, or Juvenile Justice.
  • Trauma-Sensitive: Understand trauma and adapt approaches accordingly.
  • Effective Communicator: Stellar communication skills with an assertive yet empathetic demeanor.
  • Boundary-Setter: Confident in managing behaviors and setting limits.

Essential Requirements

  • Certificate IV in Child, Youth, and Family Intervention.
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Employee Working with Children Check.
  • National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Valid Australian driver’s license with reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificates.
  • Certification in Trauma-Informed Care (desirable).

Must-Have Skills

  • Proven experience supporting clients under 18 with complex behaviors and disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of mental health challenges, especially in children.
  • Ability to support clients with both medical and behavioral conditions.

Shift Schedule

Morning, Afternoon, and Night-Sleep Shifts Available.

Pay Rate

Negotiable based on experience.
