About cape

cape group (cape) is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee providing services to people with a disability and is a Registered NDIS Provider.

Nadrasca joined with Brite in April 2025 to form cape group, a newly formed brand resulting from the merger of the two NDIS registered providers with a combined 120 years in operation across the eastern and northern suburbs.

Together, we provide a range of services for people with disability, including home and living supports, social and community participation activities, youth employment assistance, supported
employment, and NDIS support coordination.

The Position

The Disability Support Worker reports directly to the House Supervisor and is responsible for delivering high‑quality support services to residents across any cape Community Living Service. The role focuses on supporting residents to achieve their individual goals and live fulfilling, meaningful lives by providing person‑centred care and assistance.

Quality, safety and person-centered support

  • Support residents in a manner consistent with person-centred active
    support, positive behaviour support, and cape’s policies and procedures.
  • Support a smooth transition and adjustment for new and existing residents
    and their families.
  • Support residents to achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives.
    Regularly seek feedback from participants, families and relevant others, and
    communicate this to the House Supervisor and the team.
  • Participate in the review of behaviour support plans.
  • Ensure familiarity with each resident’s support goals and work
    collaboratively with the team and relevant external providers to consistently
    implement, monitor and review resident plans.
  • Contribute to an environment that empowers people with disabilities.
  • Support residents’ access to health care, support services and the
    community.
  • Participate in the planning and preparation of menus and meals that are
    based on resident’s nutritional, cultural, and religious needs and personal
    preferences and in accordance with food safety guidelines and household
    budgets.
  • Maintain a high standard to ensure the house is comfortable, tidy and
    hygienic for residents at all times, including assistance with washing, mopping
    floors and domestic cleaning where residents cannot.
  • Assist the House Supervisor and Accommodation Services Manager in
    conducting regular operational and functional audits, as required.

Operations

  • Maintain awareness of current resident Rosters of Care, and ensure
    supports to residents are delivered accordingly. Participate as required in the
    review of resident support needs in preparation for NDIS Plan Reviews.
  • Complete resident documentation in a timely, accurate and professional
    manner.
  • Identify and report house maintenance issues in a reasonable time to the
    appropriate person.
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and expenditure
    in accordance with set budgets and resident agreement.
  • Maintain up to date records relating to service delivery, safety and
    finance, and provide additional information as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate III Disability or equivalent sector experience.
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively support people with disability in daily living and personal care
    skills.
  • Ability to undertake a range of household duties, including meal preparation and household cleaning to a high
    standard.
  • Must be able to work shifts that may involve weekends, morning and evening work, and sleepovers.
  • Ability to use technology to access and maintain resident records and communicate with others through the
    use of Microsoft Office Suite, email, web browsing and video conferencing
    platforms.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and organise one’s own time to achieve tasks.
  • Ability to exercise sensitivity and maintain strict confidentiality, when required.
