Salary: $70,000 - $76,000 yearly

About the Role:

As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals to live independently and engage meaningfully in their communities. Your support will be tailored to each participant’s unique needs, goals and aspirations - helping them build confidence, develop life skills and achieve greater independence.

You will work as part of a dedicated care team, collaborating with participants, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for those you support.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Supporting participants in their unique journey by promoting independence and meaningful engagement in their communities.
• Providing assistance across various settings, including self-care activities, manual handling, community participation, respite care and Supported Independent Living (SIL).
• Encouraging personal growth, employment and skill development to enhance quality of life.
• Building strong, respectful relationships based on trust and dignity.
• Collaborating with families, carers and professionals to deliver holistic, person-centred support.

Skills & Experience

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build meaningful relationships with participants and their families.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
• Awareness of cultural protocols when working with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and CALD communities.
• Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements.
• Experience with High-Intensity Support (preferred).
• Experience with Complex Behaviour Support Management (preferred).

Requirements

• Proof of Australian citizenship, residency, or valid work visa.
• QLD Open Driver’s License.
• QLD Working with Children Blue Card.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card).
• Infection Control Certificate.
• First Aid & CPR Certificate (HLTAID011 & HLTAID009).
• National Police Check (less than 6 months old).
• Must have relevant Certificate III qualifications.
• Completion of the NDIS Orientation Module.
• Willingness to undergo additional training tailored to participants’ needs.
• Minimum 1 year of experience (20 hours per week).
