Home Support Association Inc (HSA) originated as a local, grass-roots service through the work of people living in this community and driven by the needs of people living in this community and continues to operate under these principles today after 30 years of change and growth.

๐Ÿ’ผ About the Role

Home Support Association (HSA) are seeking Disability Support Workers to join our team. We have positions available in Supported Independent Living (SIL) and 1:1 supports. What does this mean for you?

As a 1:1 support worker, you can expect to work with a range of different Service Users in a range of different contexts. It might be supporting someone to go into the community to complete tasks such as shopping, banking or attending appointments, or go into their home to assist with daily living tasks.

Our SIL teams operate on a two-week or six-week rotational roster consisting of day, sleepover, and weekend shifts so availability to work these shifts is a must.

As a Disability Support Worker, you will have a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine commitment to achieving positive outcomes for people with a disability to enable them to lead an inclusive life in their community.

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Passion for supporting the rights of people with a disability and working collaboratively with mutual trust and respect
  • Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability and willingness to work with complex and challenging behaviours
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills and ability to complete SIL shift documentation

๐Ÿ“š What you need:

  • A current Blue Card or ability to apply
  • A current Yellow Card or ability to apply
  • Current driverโ€™s licence and own registered vehicle and comprehensive insurance
  • Smart phone/tablet with internet access
  • First Aid & CPR Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Experience or genuine interest in the disability services industry
  • Sound communication and written skills
  • Highly desirable โ€“ COVID-19 Vaccination
  • Highly desirable โ€“ Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
