As a Disability Advocate, you'll support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disability, their families and carers by providing information, advocacy, referral and representation services.
No two days are the same. You may be:
The role services South East Queensland and may involve outreach to regional Queensland communities, including occasional overnight travel.
We're looking for someone who builds trusted relationships, communicates with confidence, adapts to changing circumstances, and is passionate about empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disability to understand their rights and be heard.
You may have experience in:
You'll also bring a strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities, along with the ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disability, their families and communities.
ADA Australia is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that has been protecting and promoting the rights of older people and people with disability across Queensland for more than 30 years.
Yarn2Action is a statewide advocacy service supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disability, helping ensure culturally safe and inclusive access to advocacy and support.
