Job Description

  1. Works closely with the Director of Education at BHDM and the University of Louisville Central AHEC office to accomplish the goals of the center which include, but not limited to, student clinical training, continuing education/continuing medical education programming, community health education, health careers recruitment activities, and special projects related to rural health in the 14 county service area
  2. Negotiates and oversees contracts with the University of Louisville and Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville to provide AHEC services
  3. Develops and manages budgets for the West AHEC office
  4. Supervises West AHEC staff and completes annual job performance evaluations and competencies
  5. Works with various community organizations, agencies, committees, health professionals/providers, etc. to promote West AHEC and its services
  6. Works with the other statewide AHEC programs to accomplish goals and objectives of the statewide AHEC program, including planning and attending conferences, statewide AHEC meetings, center director’s retreats/meetings, developing statewide annual reports and documents, etc.
  7. Contacts legislators to keep them informed of West AHEC events and the need for additional monies as needed
  8. Identifies healthcare workforce training needs in the West AHEC region and works to establish programs/services to address those needs
  9. Identifies areas of need in rural health in the West AHEC region and works to establish programs/services to address those needs
  10. Initiates information on grants that have a positive impact on the organization and community. Prepares grants and involves key stakeholders as needed. Reports as needed.
  11. Maintains a safe work environment and adheres to safety standards established by department and organization policy. Makes every effort to correct or report safety hazards and potentially unsafe working conditions to the proper authority
  12. Develops programs to attain personal goals and participates in educational activities to ensure further professional growth. Seeks out programs to further staff within department for professional growth.
  13. Collects data and prepares reports for federal, state, and foundation grants.
  14. Establishes and maintains partnerships throughout the service region to develop programs for healthcare profession students.
  15. Communicates a positive image of Baptist Health Deaconess to the general public.
