Job Description

Director/ VP of Strategic Finance

Department: Corporate

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Shield Technology Partners - NYC

Compensation: $180,000 - $230,000 / year

As Shield continues scaling across our portfolio of companies, we are looking for a highly analytical and commercially-minded Strategic Finance leader to help drive financial strategy, operational insights, capital planning, and executive decision support across the platform.

This role sits at the intersection of finance, operations, M&A, and executive strategy. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable building sophisticated financial models, evaluating acquisition opportunities, improving operational reporting, and partnering directly with executives on high-impact strategic initiatives. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building in a fast-moving environment and can balance strategic thinking with detailed execution.

Quarterly travel will be expected, as well as periodic in-office presence in the NYC office as business needs require.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Finance & Business Partnership
  • Partner closely with executive leadership on company-wide strategic initiatives, growth planning, and operational decision-making
  • Develop long-range financial and operational models to support business planning, investment decisions, and platform scaling initiatives
  • Evaluate ROI and business impact across growth initiatives, operational investments, pricing strategies, and new market opportunities
  • Translate complex financial and operational data into clear recommendations for leadership stakeholders
  • Support organizational planning and resource allocation across Shield and its portfolio companies

Operational Finance & Performance Insights
  • Build and maintain reporting frameworks, dashboards, and KPIs across the organization
  • Develop operational metrics around recurring revenue, retention, margin performance, utilization, and business health indicators
  • Partner with operating teams to improve data accuracy, reporting consistency, and financial visibility across multiple systems and entities
  • Drive scenario modeling, trend analysis, and forecasting to support executive decision-making and business planning
  • Help establish scalable financial and operational governance processes as the platform continues to grow

M&A, Integrations & Strategic Initiatives
  • Support acquisition analysis, financial diligence, and integration planning efforts
  • Assist in evaluating strategic investments, partnerships, and growth opportunities across the portfolio
  • Partner cross-functionally with finance, operations, and integration teams on post-acquisition performance tracking and operational alignment
  • Contribute to systems implementations, process improvements, and finance transformation initiatives across Shield and partner companies
  • Support executive-level materials for Board meetings, investor conversations, and strategic planning discussions

Systems, Data & Process Improvement
  • Work across multiple systems and data sources to reconcile, validate, and improve financial and operational reporting accuracy
  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting, improve workflows, and streamline financial processes
  • Help design scalable, AI-forward finance and operational processes that support a rapidly growing organization
  • Raise the level of analytical rigor and operational visibility across the business while maintaining speed and adaptability

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • 7–10+ years of experience in strategic finance, investment banking, private equity, consulting, corporate finance, or related environments
  • Experience supporting executive leadership in a high-growth, operationally complex environment
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Background in M&A, integrations, or multi-entity/platform businesses strongly preferred
  • Experience working with operational and financial systems, reporting tools, and large datasets
  • Ability to operate comfortably in ambiguity and build structure where needed
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills
  • Highly collaborative, low-ego approach with a willingness to roll up sleeves and execute
  • Experience within technology, IT services, SaaS, MSP, or PE-backed environments preferred

What Success Looks Like
  • Builds trusted relationships across leadership teams and portfolio companies
  • Brings structure, visibility, and actionable insights to complex operational and financial environments
