We’re looking for our next Director, Unsecured Lending (Product). Could It Be You?
As the Director of Unsecured Lending (Product), you will design, build, and scale the foundational platforms, business engines, and backend data infrastructure that power our Canadian unsecured lending products (including personal loans, lines of credit, and credit cards).
Your mandate is focused on capabilities, architecture, and regulatory execution under the hood. You own the technical engines behind credit risk ingestion, automated underwriting orchestration, loan servicing, interest calculations, collection mechanisms, and Canadian compliance systems. You will collaborate closely with the Product Experience team, providing them with robust, compliant APIs and logic modules, while maintaining direct accountability for the product balance sheet and long-term commercial performance of our unsecured lending products.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Lending Engine & Lifecycle Ownership: Define the multi-year platform roadmap for core unsecured lending modules: origination engines, automated decisioning logic, amortization scheduling, repayment ledgers, and statement generation.
• Product Balance Sheet Accountability: Drive ultimate accountability for the commercial success, P&L outcomes, and financial stability of the unsecured lending portfolios (Credit Cards, Personal Loans, LOCs).
• Credit & Risk Engine Integration: Partner with Risk and Data Science teams to build dynamic, automated underwriting infrastructure. Architect the integrations that securely ingest credit data from Canadian bureaus (Equifax and TransUnion), alternative data sources (Open Banking/Consumer-Directed Banking frameworks), and income verification APIs.
• Canadian Compliance & Regulatory Guardrails: Ensure all underlying backend logic adheres to OSFI (Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions) guidelines, Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) requirements, anti-money laundering (AML) regulations, and provincial lending laws.
• API-First Ecosystem Design: Own the structural definitions and technical documentation for all lending-related microservices, enabling the Product Experience team to build lending frontend journeys securely and with maximum speed.
• Treasury & Capital Management Infrastructure: Partner with Finance and Treasury to implement technical logic for dynamic cost-of-funds calculations, asset-liability management inputs, and capital allocation models behind the lending books.
• Vendor Ecosystem Management: Evaluate and integrate critical Canadian fintech partners, Loan Management Systems (LMS), and Loan Origination Systems (LOS).
• Team Leadership: Build and mentor a highly skilled team of Product Managers focused on platform capability, engineering depth, and commercial product performance.
So are YOU our next Director, Unsecured Lending (Product)? You are if you…
• Have 8+ years' experience in product management, with at least 4+ years explicitly focused on backend lending platforms, credit risk infrastructure, or core banking systems in the Canadian financial ecosystem.
• Have deep familiarity with the Canadian credit landscape, including Equifax/TransUnion reporting criteria, FCAC compliance protocols, and the evolving Canadian Open Banking standards
• Have strong understanding of credit decisioning trees, risk matrices, ledger databases, accounting engines, and API engineering. Experience with specialized lending platforms (e.g., Turnkey Lender, Mambu, Peach, or custom internal LOS/LMS engines) is a significant asset.
• Have demonstrated ability to act as the primary interface between highly technical software engineers, data scientists, quantitative risk modelers, legal councils, and the frontend Product Experience leaders.
