Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join in the role of Director, Head of Treasury Solutions Group and Payments Commercialisation, Continental Europe. This is a role within HSBC’s Global Payments Solutions (GPS) business, based in Paris, France.

Global Payment Solutions (GPS) is made up of almost 10,000 people, across more than 50 countries. The business is uniquely positioned to help clients make payments across borders, across currencies and regulations, quickly and efficiently with dedicated country and regional and global support. Our expertise in this area is repeatedly recognised by the industry’s most prominent publications and associations with numerous global, regional and country awards.

Treasury Solutions Group (TSG) is a practice in GPS that creates a differentiated value proposition for clients seeking to actively transform their treasury, guiding them in their journey with our knowledge, experience and best practice. TSG expertise help client treasuries identify needs and challenges and help solve these in a holistic and collaborative way.

The role is to be responsible for leading the TSG practice in Continental Europe (CE) and will have a predominantly market and client facing focus. The role required a proactive and continuous engagement with Corporate and Institutional (CIB) clients and client-facing functions in a consultative capacity across a range of payments and treasury topics. As a thought leader, the role holder will be required to represent GPS and HSBC in external public forums, media and events on such topics.

In this role, you will:

  • Meet Corporate Treasurers (clients) at a strategic level of thinking and help shape their treasury transformation roadmap.
  • Lead a specialist team who works with clients, through the relationship teams, to bring efficiency and effectiveness in their treasury processes.
  • Bring payments subject matter knowledge into designing solutions for large corporate and institutional clients handling payment flows across multiple geographies and currencies.
  • Drive revenue from increased usage of payment solutions, by leading consistent and sustained commercialisation efforts to drive payments product utilisation
  • Design & deliver globally consistent training programs, covering treasury and payments topics, enabling frontline teams in their strategic conversations with their clients and stakeholders.
  • Drive thought leadership on topics and themes which are top of mind of Corporate Treasurers and CFOs, ranging from ‘here & now’ issues to forward-looking subjects in the CE payments industry and in corporate treasury landscape.
  • Develop GPS profile by taking up speaking engagement at Industry Events, HSBC/GPS proprietary Events, Client Roundtables etc. Work with Marketing and various content teams to help elevate the quality and effectiveness of sponsored/proprietary events.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Treasury practitioner and/or consulting experience in treasury set-up, centralisation, standardisation, with use of treasury management and/or payment factory systems
  • Established treasury expert, with leadership experience in Corporates treasury management and/or treasury consulting
  • Experience in setting risk appetite and budgets, working capital metrics, developing treasury policies, applying data-driven methodologies to measure, report and benchmark performance.
  • Familiarity with payout infrastructure: bank transfer rails, digital wallets, local payout methods
  • Strong and effective stakeholder management skills, ability to build effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust with clients and stakeholders.
  • Experience in product commercialisation and track record of driving volumes and revenues
  • Track record in thought leadership on topics and themes which are top of mind of stakeholders, from CFO/CEO in the organisation, banking and payments partners, treasury technology providers.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences.
  • Leading and managing people.
