JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Transformation Office is responsible for leading the enterprise Transformation Office and ensuring the organization’s most critical strategic initiatives are executed with rigor, transparency, and sustained business impact. This role serves as the central owner of the transformation portfolio, translating strategic priorities into executable initiatives, driving disciplined delivery, and ensuring expected benefits are realized and embedded into the business.

Operating as a senior execution leader and strategic partner to executive leadership, the Director establishes governance, prioritization, and performance management across initiatives while enabling cross-functional leaders to deliver results. The Director ensures the Transformation Office functions as a results-driven execution engine, not a reporting function.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Enterprise Transformation Leadership

  • Lead the enterprise Transformation Office, setting the execution standards, operating rhythm, and expectations for initiative delivery and value realization.
  • Translate corporate strategy and leadership priorities into a clear, integrated transformation roadmap.
  • Ensure alignment across initiatives, avoiding duplication, managing interdependencies, and optimizing enterprise capacity.
  • Act as a trusted thought partner and advisor to senior leaders on execution risks, trade-offs, and decision-making.

Portfolio Governance & Prioritization

  • Lead coordination of the end-to-end transformation portfolio, including intake, prioritization, sequencing, and resourcing of initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain governance forums that drive accountability, timely decisions, and issue escalation.
  • Partner with Finance and business leaders to define success metrics, track benefits, and validate realized value.
  • Continuously assess portfolio performance and recommend adjustments to maximize enterprise impact.

Execution Oversight & Value Realization

  • Ensure initiatives progress from approved plans through implementation and into sustained operational outcomes.
  • Hold initiative owners and workstream leaders accountable for delivery commitments and realized benefits.
  • Proactively identify execution risks, capacity constraints, and change impacts, intervening as needed to keep initiatives on track.
  • Reinforce disciplined execution practices across planning, delivery, reporting, and retrospectives.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing Transformation Office team, including project/program managers and analysts.
  • Set clear expectations, coach execution leaders, and foster a culture of ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a role model for enterprise collaboration, constructive challenge, and results-oriented leadership.

Executive Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Provide clear, concise, and actionable updates to executive leadership on transformation progress, risks, and outcomes.
  • Translate complex portfolio data into insights that support informed decision-making.
  • Partner closely with functional and regional leaders to ensure alignment, engagement, and sustained adoption of outcomes.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferred fields include Engineering, Environmental Science, Regulatory Affairs, Business, or related technical discipline.
  • Professional certifications in compliance, regulatory affairs, PE, PMP, or Six Sigma are a plus.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in natural gas or electric operations, regulatory compliance, pipeline safety, or related energy infrastructure fields.
  • At least 5+ years of leadership experience managing compliance programs or multi-site operational teams.
  • Demonstrated success managing regulatory audits, overseeing corrective actions, and building compliance governance processes.
  • Experience working with PHMSA, DOT, state PUCs, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Utility, pipeline operator, or energy infrastructure experience strongly preferred.
