Job Description

Create your best future and join Westpac as a Director, Trade Service Operations

What’s the role?

You’ll provide executive leadership for Westpac’s end-to-end Trade Service Operations, setting the strategic direction and operating rhythm for a large, geographically distributed workforce across Australia and offshore.

With accountability spanning operational performance, customer outcomes, risk and controls, workforce planning and transformation, you’ll shape a scalable operating model that delivers safe, efficient and commercially aligned outcomes. You’ll oversee services across documentary trade, trade finance loans, borrowing base and structured trade products, ensuring the function remains responsive to the changing needs of Institutional and Business & Wealth customers.

As a trusted adviser to senior leaders, you’ll influence enterprise decisions, provide clear insights on emerging operational themes and lead the response to material issues. You’ll also champion opportunities to simplify processes, strengthen resilience and enhance service delivery through automation and continuous improvement.

This is a newly created, permanent opportunity based in Parramatta, where you’ll build leadership capability and create a culture of accountability, sound judgement and safe execution.

What do I need?

You’ll be an accomplished operations leader who can set direction, influence at an executive level and deliver sustainable outcomes in a complex environment.

  • Executive leadership capability, with the ability to lead a large, geographically distributed function and develop a strong, accountable leadership team.
  • Deep understanding of trade finance operations, supported by strong commercial judgement and knowledge of the risks, controls and regulatory obligations that shape service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective governance, strengthen operational resilience and lead the resolution of material incidents, control gaps and complex operational issues.
  • Exceptional stakeholder influence and communication skills, with the confidence to advise senior leaders, challenge constructively and build alignment across diverse business areas.
  • Strategic change leadership, including the ability to shape operating models and lead transformation, simplification, automation and offshore service delivery.
