SALARY: $131,200-$186,960 bonus & long-term incentive eligible

Location: This role can be based onsite in St. Louis, MO, or New York City, NY.

Compensation will be aligned to the candidate’s location.

The Director, Trade & Customs is a senior leadership role within the North America Zone Tax team, responsible for overseeing U.S. and Canada customs, trade compliance, and duty optimization activities across Anheuser‑Busch’s complex supply chain. This role partners closely with Tax, Supply Chain, Procurement, Legal, Finance, and external advisors to ensure compliance with customs and trade regulations while identifying opportunities to reduce duty, manage risk, and support strategic initiatives. The role reports to the Sr. Director, Tax, Trade, Transfer Pricing Strategy

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Trade & Customs Compliance & Strategy

  • Lead U.S. and Canada customs compliance across imports, exports, and inter-company flows, ensuring adherence to all applicable trade regulations
  • Oversee classification, valuation, country of origin, and free trade agreement qualification
  • Identify and execute duty optimization opportunities, including FTZs, drawback, valuation planning, and supply chain structuring
  • Partner with Transfer Pricing and Supply Chain to align customs with inter-company pricing and sourcing strategies

Risk, Audit & Governance

  • Lead customs audits, inquiries, and enforcement matters, coordinating with external advisors and government authorities
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation, internal controls, and compliance processes
  • Assess and mitigate trade-related risks, including tariff exposure, regulatory changes, and geopolitical impacts
  • Establish governance frameworks, policies, and procedures aligned with global standards

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Serve as the North America subject matter expert for trade and customs
  • Partner with Indirect Tax, Transfer Pricing, Legal, Finance, Procurement, and Operations to support business objectives
  • Translate technical requirements into clear, business-focused guidance

Process Improvement & Execution

  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, data analytics, and system enhancements
  • Partner with IT and Tax Technology teams to improve compliance accuracy and reporting efficiency
  • Lead strategic initiatives and special projects as needed

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, Supply Chain, or related field
  • CPA, JD, advanced degree, or customs-related certification preferred
  • 5–8+ years of experience in trade, customs, indirect tax, or related disciplines within a large multinational, CPA firm, law firm, or advisory environment
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. customs and international trade regulations, including classification, valuation, origin, and FTAs
  • Experience managing corporate customs compliance, trade strategy, and external advisors or brokers
  • Understanding of how trade compliance intersects with transfer pricing, indirect tax, and supply chain operations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence cross-functional partners
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP or similar), trade compliance tools, and data analysis
