& Summary

Why PwC?

At PwC Australia, your skills meet purpose. We tackle big challenges across industries like finance, technology, energy, and health—giving you the chance to make a real impact. Here, your growth is our priority. You’ll work with leading teams, explore new technologies, and unlock your full potential.
Join a global community of more than 370,000 people who value bold ideas, collaboration, and lasting change. Together, we’re building trust and shaping the future.

As a Director in PwC Australia's Technology Advisory team, you will be a senior leader responsible for driving the strategic direction of complex client engagements, building enduring executive relationships, and shaping the growth of our practice. You will lead high-impact engagements across three core advisory areas: Technology Strategy and IT Operating Model, Tech Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), and Delivery Advisory.

This role is ideal for a seasoned consulting leader who thrives in navigating ambiguity, influencing C-suite decision-making, and driving transformative outcomes. You bring a passion for shaping the future of technology in business, combined with the commercial acumen and leadership presence to grow teams, win work, and deliver lasting client impact.

Key Focus Areas

Technology Strategy & Operating Model

  • Own and lead the development of compelling technology strategies aligned with enterprise goals, market trends, and customer needs, influencing executive-level buy-in and investment decisions.
  • Design and champion future-ready operating models that are scalable, agile, and resilient, empowering technology functions to deliver sustained value across the enterprise.
  • Lead the assessment and optimisation of technology cost structures to ensure financial sustainability, efficiency, and strategic reinvestment in innovation.
  • Direct the design and execution of large-scale transformation roadmaps, ensuring successful delivery and embedding continuous improvement through post-implementation reviews.
  • Oversee the development of enterprise architecture strategies and modern technology processes that underpin long-term business objectives.
  • Provide executive guidance on technology sourcing, vendor selection, and delivering technology change with minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Lead the planning and design of emerging AI-enabled IT operating models, positioning clients at the forefront of innovation.

Delivery Advisory and Tech M&A

  • Partner with C-suite and senior stakeholders to shape and develop delivery strategies and technology transformation business cases that secure executive sponsorship and funding.
  • Translate strategic intent into actionable, enterprise-scale delivery roadmaps, ensuring clarity, prioritisation, and alignment across teams, initiatives, and business units.
  • Provide authoritative advisory on delivery approaches, including AI-enabled functions, agentic workforce models, and agile-at-scale practices to drive efficiency and innovation.
  • Establish, oversee, and refine governance structures to ensure delivery integrity, risk management, and performance tracking across complex programs and portfolios.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across the full technology lifecycle of deals, from due diligence and planning through to execution and value realisation.
  • Lead the development of detailed transition plans and capability models to support post-merger readiness, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum value realisation.
  • Direct the evaluation of technology landscapes, risks, and opportunities to inform deal decisions and shape post-deal strategies.
  • Optimise post-deal technology operations and workforce to align with new business structures, driving efficiency, agility, and scalability at pace.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive practice growth and market leadership, owning significant business development targets, originating and closing major pursuits, shaping go-to-market propositions, and elevating PwC's market reputation through thought leadership, industry eminence, and demonstrable client impact.
  • Serve as a trusted executive advisor on emerging technology trends, enterprise platforms, and architecture decisions, guiding clients through critical trade-offs across cost, risk, scalability, and innovation while influencing boardroom-level decision-making.
  • Lead and shape the most complex, large-scale client engagements and enterprise transformation programs by partnering with C-suite executives and board-level stakeholders to define and deliver enterprise-wide technology strategies, digital transformation, operating model redesign, AI-enabled innovations, and M&A integration.
  • Set the strategic vision and direction for multi-workstream technology programs, translating business ambition into target operating models, enterprise roadmaps, target-state architectures, and compelling investment cases that drive measurable, sustainable business value at scale.
  • Build and lead high-performing teams, mentoring and developing Senior Managers, Managers, and junior consultants while playing a pivotal role in talent strategy, capability building, and the strategic direction of PwC's Technology Advisory practice.

What We’re Looking For

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience working with a leading consulting firm or strategy house, with deep expertise in technology, digital, or AI advisory.
  • Extensive experience leading technology strategy and large-scale transformation programs, including governance, operating model design, strategic delivery planning, complex multi-stream delivery, and post-merger technology integration.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide authoritative counsel on emerging technologies including Agentic AI, and modern agile and scaled delivery practices.
  • A proven track record of originating and leading major client engagements, building enduring trusted relationships with C-suite and senior executive stakeholders, and managing and inspiring high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Deep enterprise architecture capability, with significant experience defining target-state architectures, platform strategies, and technology standards across applications, data, integration, cloud, and security domains.
  • Significant experience working with clients in Financial Services, Mining, Energy, or Retail industries, with a passion for driving innovation and delivering impactful, technology-enabled business outcomes.

What You’ll Gain

  • Executive leadership development programs and personalised coaching designed to help you lead with impact, inspire teams, and accelerate your career to the highest levels.
  • A world-class parental leave policy offering up to 26 weeks of leave for caregivers, supporting your family and personal life.
  • Flexibility means trusting you to choose when, where, and how you work—balancing what's best for you, your team, and your clients to grow and thrive together.
  • Being part of a community united by purpose, delivering impact that reaches clients, communities, and the future you're shaping.
