As a Director on the Tech Infrastructure Security team, you will own the platform that enables Coupang to win and grow our customers’ confidence while rapidly expanding and scaling our services.

The Security Infrastructure team builds core security services and libraries used by all Coupang services to secure themselves and our customers. Our work supports teams across Coupang and thousands of microservices. We aim to make Coupang and its products more secure while also making our engineers more productive. Our responsibilities include building Identity and Access Management (IAM) functionality for our entire ecosystem of vendors, sellers and shoppers.

We are looking for an engineering leader for our IAM platform. You will drive the evolution of our Security Infrastructure, including our ecosystem of authentication and authorization technologies. The successful candidate will be someone who can hire and retain the best, build an effective organization, work across groups to deliver business impact, and is not afraid to dive deep when needed. As a senior leader, you will work with key stakeholders to see the big picture across groups, drive strategic investments and root out inefficiencies.

What You Will Do

• Help build a great Security Infrastructure team by hiring the best and actively shaping team culture.
• Drive the evolution of our IAM platform by overseeing strategy, creating roadmaps, driving execution, and working for company-wide adoption.
• Drive alignment across key stakeholders on strategic roadmaps and deliverables.
• Partner with teams across the company to proactively identify business and technical opportunities.
• Drive execution through technical and organizational complexities, balancing strategic goals and immediate impact.
• Dive deep when necessary to lead by example and help with high priority projects.
• Contribute to the Coupang engineering community through cross-company initiatives.
• Inspire teams to raise the bar on design, development and Operational Excellence.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or a closely related field
• 8 years of experience in backend software development
• Experience working in cloud environments, particularly AWS
• Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining highly available, distributed systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters or PhD degree in computer science or other related technical field.
• Experience leading design and development of large scale distributed systems.
• Recent experience with security, IAM or related technologies.
• Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams to define mission, vision, and roadmaps.
• Experience handling multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment and leading the delivery of large-scale services for complex business offerings. Preferred Qualifications
• Hands-on experience building security protocols and/or IAM systems.
• Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams to define mission, vision, and roadmaps.
• Experience working with Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, gRPC and Istio.

Pay & Benefits

Our compensation reflects the cost of living across several US geographic markets. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation.

The base pay for this position ranges from $174,00/year to $299,000/year. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
