Director, Supply Management, Access & Egress Hardware Group

Summary

The Director, Supply Management leads the development and execution of the supply management and supply chain strategy for the Access & Egress Hardware Group (AEH). This role is responsible for building strong functional capabilities, improving supply base performance, optimizing inventory and cost, mitigating supply risk, and driving consistent supply chain practices across the group.

AEH operates within a decentralized, multi-site organizational structure. The Director provides direct leadership to the Category Management, Supplier Quality, and Inventory/Sourcing functions, while providing functional leadership and strategic direction to Supply Chain Managers across AEH operating locations through dotted-line relationships. Site Supply Chain Managers maintain their local reporting relationships while partnering closely with the Director to execute group-wide strategies, standards, priorities, and performance objectives. The Director will also establish supply chain best practices and train sites on their adoption, particularly for emerging technologies.

Success in this role requires an accomplished supply chain leader who can influence without direct authority, create alignment across independently operated locations, and build strong relationships with site leaders and cross-functional partners. The Director must balance the development of consistent group-wide strategies and standards with the unique operational requirements of each business and location.

Based in New Haven, CT, this position reports directly to the President of the Access & Egress Hardware Group.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and deployment of supply management policies across AEH
• Establish and enforce policy on supplier terms and conditions
• Drive improvements in payment terms, cost, service, and inventory
• Minimize supply risk and maintain compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) regulations and policies
• Lead all supply chain activities within AEH, including logistics planning, materials management, inventory planning, freight cost optimization, scheduling, order planning and fulfillment, and indirect spend
• Drive continuous business improvement processes using technology, labor and asset solutions to improve service levels, cost position, and productivity
• Establish, analyze, and report on supply chain key performance indicators (KPIs) and business and quality metrics, and implement programs to monitor performance
• Establish annual strategic objectives, action plans, and critical success factors for each operating entity in the group
• Own the material management goals for AEH, such as material throughput, part shortages, and inventory accuracy, and implement plans to achieve them
• Drive lean transformation throughout the supply chain and continuous improvement across the procurement process
• Develop team members through mentoring, coaching, performance management, and ongoing career development
• Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of information, protect the assets of the organization, act with ethics and integrity, report non-compliance and adhere to all applicable laws and regulations
• Partner with site teams to ensure inventory accuracy and drive continuous improvement
• Build effective supplier relationships that drive improvements in quality, delivery, cost, and service
• Support cross-functional teams in resolving quality issues with internal and external partners
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned

Desired Experience & Education

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in full-cycle supply chain management, including procurement and logistics
• Demonstrated success leading in a matrixed, multi-site environment and influencing without direct authority
• Strategic thinker who executes with confidence and speed
• Proven ability to engage and influence effectively at the highest levels of the organization
• Knowledge of and experience with Lean, Six Sigma, operations, and inventory management
• Strong executive presence with excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
• Strong leadership capabilities and interpersonal skills
• Strong negotiation skills
• Demonstrated track record of successful process, productivity, quality and cost improvements
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems; experience with supply chain analytics tools preferred
• Ability to travel approximately 30%, including international travel
