We are looking for a Director, Supply Chain & Sourcing Finance to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to our CFO and based in San Jose, CA This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week
Reporting to the CFO, the Director, Supply Chain & Sourcing Finance partners with the VP, Global Supply Chain to drive cost, cash, and working capital outcomes across Bloom’s direct material spend. The role sits with Sourcing leadership and the commodity teams — supporting deal underwriting with the supply base, modeling supplier disbursements, owning material cost and days-to-pay reporting, and contributing to commodity-level strategies through annual planning cycles.
The scope is everything upstream of the receiving dock: commodities, inventory of raw materials and parts, planning, and the Sourcing function’s own budget. It does not cover manufacturing finance, which is owned separately. This role partners with Manufacturing Finance at the receiving dock to ensure clean variance attribution, and feeds direct material cost into Corporate FP&A for total product cost rollup.
Location
This position is based in San Jose, CA, with regular travel to supplier sites and Bloom’s manufacturing facilities in Fremont, CA and Newark, DE. Travel is expected to be approximately 20%.
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as a strategic partner to the Sourcing team and commodity managers to drive optimal business performance across cost, cash, quality, and delivery in rapidly growing manufacturing environment.
Provide financial leadership for supplier deal underwriting, including evaluation of commercial agreements and post-signature performance management, delivering recommendations on pricing, structure, and terms to maximize margin, manage risk, and improve predictability. Oversee monthly close reporting of finance-related metrics for Sourcing (including purchase price variance (PPV) and days-to-pay) and deliver supporting analysis for monthly operating reviews with the VP, Supply Chain and P&L leaders.
Own supplier disbursements forecast and execution, partnering with Treasury on cash planning and liquidity management.
Lead financial planning and analysis for the Sourcing and central Supply Chain budgets, including headcount, indirect spend, and operating cost.
Shape commodity-level strategies through the annual strategy and budget processes, including should-cost modeling, supplier negotiations, and hedging recommendations on key raw materials (e.g., metals, rare earths).
Leverage data and analytics to generate insights and support decision-making across commodity operations teams.
Drive accurate financial estimates and reporting of inventory levels for raw materials and parts; create the inventory improvement roadmap and partner with Supply Chain to execute against working capital targets.
Support Planning on demand-supply balancing, safety stock strategy, and evaluation of financial trade-offs.
Support Parts and Service Logistics on parts forecasting, service inventory strategy, and the economics of the installed base.
Lead End-of-Life (EOL) and Phase-In/Phase-Out (PIPO) financial planning to minimize stranded raw material and parts inventory across product transitions.
Own supplier financial risk analysis, including financial health, concentration risk, and credit exposure across the supply base.
Drive cross-functional initiatives to standardize, simplify, and automate processes — reducing manual workload and improving cycle time.
Partner with Sourcing leadership to solve operational challenges, drive continuous improvement, and eliminate waste.
Use financial expertise and sound judgment to drive a high level of controllership and compliance — including maintaining and communicating the most recent delegations of authority within Sourcing.
Collaborate with Manufacturing Finance at the receiving dock to ensure consistent costing standards and clean variance attribution across the end-to-end product cost structure.
Communicate complex financial insights clearly, influencing cross-functional stakeholders and enabling informed decision-making.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive finance experience, including increasing scope and leadership responsibility.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or hardware environment, with exposure to cost structures, operations, and supply chain dynamics.
Direct experience supporting a Sourcing, Procurement, or Supply Chain organization, including PPV reporting, should-cost modeling, and commodity analytics.
Demonstrated track record at a complex, multi-site manufacturer — relevant sectors include energy, power generation, electric vehicles, aerospace & defense, semiconductors, industrial equipment, or other capital-intensive hardware businesses.
Working knowledge of ERP systems and supply chain operations (e.g., SAP, Oracle); strong analytical capability with business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx).
Experience modeling supplier disbursements, payment terms, and days-to-pay; familiarity with treasury and cash management implications of supplier decisions.
Experience partnering with commodity managers on negotiation strategy, should-cost analysis, and supplier consolidation.
Influential leader with the ability to drive alignment and decisions across a broad set of cross-functional stakeholders. Transparent communicator who operates with candor, shares critical information proactively, and contributes constructively to team outcomes. Strategic thinker and strong ability to prioritize, comfortable navigating ambiguity and solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment.
Highly collaborative, partnering effectively across functions to benchmark best practices and drive continuous improvement. Strong personal ethics, intellectual rigor, and the ability to influence and negotiate across a complex, matrixed global organization.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline. MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred. Relevant practical experience will supersede a specific academic qualification.
