As Director of Strategy for Healthcare, you will partner with the Healthcare leadership team to drive the strategic agenda across our markets. Operating as a trusted adviser to leadership you will enable the business to define where to play and how to win, translate strategy into clear priorities to maximise business opportunity, and ensure disciplined execution that delivers sustainable growth and long-term value creation.

Key Accountabilities

Strategic Planning

  • Lead the development of strategy and operating plans for the Healthcare business to drive innovation and increase both scale and customer value

  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to the senior leadership team, partnering to shape the strategic direction of the business: framing critical strategic questions, trends, technologies and evolving market needs to drive structuring decision-making

  • Translate strategy into clear strategic choices, investment priorities and measurable outcomes, enabling leadership teams to act decisively

Growth Strategy

  • Identify and evaluate new growth opportunities within our core segments, adjacencies and emerging ecosystems to help evolve our product strategies and business models to meet changing customer needs

  • Build and manage a M&A pipeline, working closely with business leaders, RELX corporate finance and Risk M&A teams

  • Develop and lead strategic initiatives to assist the business with critical decisions, such as entry into adjacent segments/markets, commercial strategy and portfolio prioritisation. Evaluating strategic partnerships, acquisitions and divestments

Market and Customer

  • Develop a deep, data and relationship-driven understanding of market fundamentals, including customer workflows, current value, unmet needs, market sizing, competitive positioning, and business models. Ensure a data-driven deep understanding of our customers and the value we deliver

  • Lead competitive and ecosystem analysis, identifying disruption risks, partnership opportunities, and sources of sustainable differentiation

  • Ensure our strategic plans are based on solid market intelligence and customer insights

  • Deepen our understanding of key drivers and barriers in each segment, informing our strategic planning

  • Stay ahead of new market, technology and other trends to consider business opportunities, risks and impact

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • 5+ years prior experience in the areas of corporate strategy, investment banking, market research, M&A diligence, product planning, business planning, or corporate mergers & acquisitions. Experience in a top tier consulting or M&A advisory firm is preferred.

  • An undergraduate degree is required; an MBA or equivalent degree from a leading university is preferred.

  • Prior experience in Healthcare is preferred but not required.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with ability to assimilate information, assess situations, learn and move to problem solving mode quickly. Comfortable dealing with complex and unstructured problems, and adept at applying problem solving techniques and frameworks to address them

  • Demonstrated capability to drive decisions strategically, analytically and thoughtfully. A self-starter with ability to balance numerous initiatives simultaneously

    · Proven track record of driving cross functional alignment with demonstrated success at defining an agenda despite inherent conflicting opinions, demands, and priorities

  • Collaborative, pragmatic and outcomes driven, with a strong bias toward action and execution

  • Strong proactive communication skills with ability to assess audience and adapt communication style accordingly; comfortable and effective at communicating across a variety of organizational levels and functions

  • Strong organizational and planning skills; must be able to prioritize based on direction from leadership

  • Strong experience in M&A, strategic alliances and detailed commercial negotiations
    Exceptional ability to synthesise complexity, frame decisions and communicate clearly with senior audiences and create organisational followship through engagement

  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to link strategy to commercial performance and capital allocation


U.S.
National Base Pay Range: $156,700 - $290,900. Geographic differentials may apply in some locations to better reflect local market rates.
This
job is eligible for an annual incentive bonus.
