The Group Strategy function plays a critical role in shaping the long-term direction and success of the Organisation. Its primary objectives are to (a) support the Group Board and Group Executive Team to define the company’s strategic vision, ambition and corporate strategy, (b) identify growth opportunities that will strengthen the Group’s market position and long-term profitability and (c) ensure alignment across Local Business Units and Strategic Pillars, Enablers and Functions.
The Group Strategy Team helps the Leadership team in making informed decisions on business models, investments and resource allocation, through strategic analyses and thought leadership. It also enables the development and execution of the strategic agenda.

As a Director within the Strategy Team, your role will be important in supporting the development of the company’s strategy, combining strategic thinking, analytical rigour and strong stakeholder management. The role reports to the Group Director, Strategy.

Job Responsibilities:

Strategy development

  • Support the development of the Group Strategy, working closely with the Group Strategy Director and C-Suite stakeholders.
  • Support and, where appropriate, lead specific high-priority workstreams and strategic initiatives within the Group Strategy refresh, coordinating inputs from multiple stakeholders to distil strategic options and recommendations.
  • Contribute to the team’s thought leadership by analysing emerging trends, disruptions and competitive threats, and assessing implications for the business.
  • Partner with key stakeholders (Strategic pillars and enablers, Key Group Functions, Regional CEOs, and Local Business Units) to align corporate strategy with operational execution
  • Communicate strategy to internal teams to ensure continuous alignment and buy-in
  • Prepare clear and structured briefings and documents for the Board and the Group Executive Team

Strategic Planning

  • Support the annual strategic planning process, including market analysis, competitor benchmarking, and scenario planning

Business & Competitive Analysis

  • Conduct deep market/industry analysis (e.g. growth opportunities, competitive positioning, macroeconomic trends)
  • Provide insights on industry innovations and steer competitive intelligence work to inform strategic decision-making

Strategic Projects & Execution

  • Collaborate with Group Transformation and relevant stakeholders to support tracking of strategy implementation and help identify areas requiring course correction.
  • Lead ad-hoc strategy projects and support recurring strategy reviews.

Building capabilities

  • Support the development and coaching of junior strategy team members.
  • Promote a data-driven and analytical culture within the organisation

Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years of progressive and relevant experience in strategy, business planning, consulting or related fields, gained from top-tier management consulting firms and/or internal strategy teams. A combination of both experiences would be ideal.
  • Industry-specific experience and deep understanding of Life insurance is highly valued
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting and delivering high-impact strategic initiatives.
  • Strategic thinking, ability to synthesize complex data and trends into clear executable recommendations
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with capability to connect market trends and internal data with strategic implications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Educational background in Business Strategy, Finance, Economics or related fields; MBA or equivalent is a plus
