The Director of Strategic Consulting is a leader within the Strategic Consulting & Program Management Office (SC&PMO) responsible for designing and driving enterprise-level strategic initiatives aligned with Lundbeck U.S.’s mid-long term strategy. This role transitions from executing strategy to architecting and leading strategic direction across brands and enabling functions. The Director partners closely with senior leadership to shape priorities, lead cross-functional transformation initiatives, and ensure measurable execution of strategic objectives. The role combines enterprise strategy design, high-impact project leadership, stakeholder influence, and foundational capability building to scale the Strategic Consulting function.

Essential Functions:

Strategy Design & Leadership

  • Leads the design and refinement of enterprise strategy in partnership with US leadership, ensuring alignment to long-term corporate objectives
  • Translates strategic priorities into actionable roadmaps with clear KPIs and measurable outcomes
  • Identifies enterprise-level risks, competitive threats, and market shifts and proactively develops mitigation strategies
  • Influences senior leadership decision-making through structured insights and data-driven recommendations
  • Aligns cross-functional stakeholders around shared strategic priorities and resource allocation decisions

Enterprise Project Leadership

  • Leads large-scale, cross-functional, enterprise-wide initiatives with measurable business impact
  • Oversees multiple concurrent engagements, ensuring clarity of scope, governance, milestones, and value realization
  • Drives execution in ambiguous environments, ensuring accountability for outcomes rather than activities
  • Partners with Strategic PMO and functional leaders to ensure seamless integration of strategic initiatives into operational plans
  • Establishes mechanisms to track impact, ROI, and value delivery

Stakeholder Influence & Executive Partnership

  • Serves as a trusted strategic advisor to senior leadership
  • Builds credibility across brands, enabling functions, and Global stakeholders
  • Facilitates executive discussions and decision forums with clarity and structured rigor
  • Drives alignment during high-visibility initiatives such as annual strategy refinement, biannual business review for CEO, Capital markets Event, etc.

Foundational Capability Building

  • Designs and implements consulting frameworks, strategic planning tools, and KPI dashboards
  • Builds repeatable processes to scale the Strategic Consulting function
  • Defines performance metrics and tracking methodologies to monitor strategic progress
  • Enhances operational infrastructure supporting US strategy governance

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Accredited bachelor’s Degree
  • 9+ years of professional experience with at least 6 years in Healthcare (e.g., Pharma, Biotech, Medical Device, Health Insurance, Providers, Consulting firm that supports the Pharma, Biotech, Medical Device, Healthcare industries)
  • 3+ years of consulting experience (This could include internal consulting)
  • Proven experience leading enterprise-wide, multi-workstream strategic initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and drive cross-functional alignment
  • Experience managing ambiguity and delivering measurable business impact
  • Strong structured problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to lead in both direct and matrix reporting environments
  • Experience developing KPIs, dashboards, and performance measurement frameworks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, namely Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Competencies

  • Advanced degree, including MBA, MS, or Pharmacy degree
  • Experience at a top-tier or boutique management consulting firm
  • Prior experience leading teams
  • Prior experience in a similar role
  • Prior experience building strategic planning infrastructure or governance processes
  • Knowledge of secondary data sources and financial modeling

Travel

  • Willingness/Ability to travel up to 10% domestically. International travel may be required.

The range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of Illinois, if selected for this role, and may vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Salary Pay Range: $220,000 - $250,000 and eligibility for a 25% bonus target based on company and individual performance, and eligibility to participate in the company’s long-term incentive plan.
