ABOUT THE ROLE

Fox Corporation’s Media & Broadcast team is dedicated to building best-in-class services that power the digital initiatives of partners across FOX. Our premier platform serves as the digital foundation for all FOX brands and their consumer-facing web, mobile, and OTT experiences. We are seeking a Director, Software Development with exceptional technical expertise and people leadership skills to lead the engineering teams responsible for our Content & Asset Management platforms. This role will drive the evolution of mission-critical systems that power content and metadata management across FOX’s internal and consumer-facing digital products.

As a strategic engineering leader, you will guide architecture decisions, champion engineering excellence, and partner closely with Product, Architecture, DevOps, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver scalable, cloud-native solutions. You will also help shape our AI strategy by identifying opportunities to leverage generative AI, large language models (LLMs), and intelligent agent frameworks to improve operational efficiency and enhance user experiences.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of scalable Content & Asset Management platforms supporting internal and consumer-facing FOX products.
  • Partner with Product Management and Business stakeholders to define technical strategy, roadmap, and implementation milestones for core platform services.
  • Design and implement integrations that support hundreds of millions of users across FOX’s digital ecosystem.
  • Drive adoption of generative AI, LLMs, and intelligent agent frameworks to improve platform capabilities, developer productivity, and user experience.
  • Establish and promote engineering best practices including architecture reviews, code reviews, testing strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and mentor high-performing Agile engineering teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.
  • Remove delivery roadblocks while maintaining predictable execution, quality, and sustainable team velocity.
  • Collaborate closely with Architects, DevOps Engineers, and Infrastructure teams on system design, scalability, security, and operational excellence.
  • Evaluate technical risks, establish engineering priorities, and develop execution plans aligned with business objectives.
  • Champion modern software engineering practices including Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).
  • Build an inclusive engineering culture focused on coaching, career development, and continuous learning.
  • Collaborate across engineering organizations to improve processes, platform capabilities, and delivery outcomes.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Proven experience leading architecture and development of large-scale, distributed, high-performance software platforms.
  • Demonstrated success managing and developing high-performing Agile engineering teams.
  • Deep expertise in object-oriented software design and reusable architectural patterns.
  • Strong experience developing applications using JavaScript and TypeScript, with a focus on Node.js.
  • Experience designing and implementing cloud-native solutions on AWS.
  • Strong understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) methodologies.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML models, including generative AI and LLM technologies, into production systems.
  • Proven track record delivering enterprise-scale software solutions requiring coordination across multiple engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable plans.
  • Experience working with modern development workflows and engineering collaboration tools.

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Experience with AWS services including Lambda, ECS, OpenSearch Service, S3, SQS, SNS, and EC2.
  • Experience with Python.
  • Experience working with MySQL, DynamoDB, and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
  • Experience with Docker and containerized application deployment.
  • Familiarity with GitHub-based development workflows.
  • Experience using Jira for Agile planning and project management.
  • Experience supporting media, broadcast, digital publishing, or content management platforms.
  • Experience building AI-enabled developer tools or intelligent workflow automation.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $102,000.00-180,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
