Director, Software Delivery

Lead and scale a high-impact digital business
At WSP, we’re accelerating our digital capability to deliver innovative solutions for clients across Australia and globally. As Director, Software Delivery, you will lead a critical business within our Digital practice - owning strategy, growth and delivery of a full-service software consulting capability.
This is a high-profile leadership role with full accountability for commercial performance, delivery excellence and team leadership - covering the entire software lifecycle from work winning through to delivery, support and continuous improvement.

What you’ll do
You’ll operate as a senior leader within WSP Digital, responsible for building a high-performing, scalable software delivery business:

1. Strategy & Commercial Leadership

• Define and execute the strategy for the Software Delivery business aligned to WSP Digital
• Own the P&L, including revenue, margin, utilisation and forecasting
• Build and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities across WSP and external clients
• Lead pursuits, proposals and pre-sales engagement—shaping solutions and winning work

2. Delivery & Operational Excellence

• Lead the full software delivery lifecycle (work winning, discovery, delivery, support and enhancement)
• Establish and embed the “WSP Way” for software delivery, including governance, quality and lifecycle standards
• Ensure consistent delivery excellence through strong technical leadership and quality assurance processes
• Set project team structures and ensure effective resourcing across engagements

3. Client & Market Leadership

• Build trusted relationships with executive-level clients
• Act as a strategic advisor on software delivery, technology and digital transformation
• Represent WSP externally at industry events and forums to build market presence
• Drive integrated offerings across Digital and the broader Advisory business

4. People & Practice Leadership

• Lead a team of ~50 across Software Engineering, Business Analysis, Project Management and Platform Engineering
• Manage through senior leaders while setting direction, capability uplift and succession planning
• Lead recruitment strategy for key technical roles across Australia
• Foster an inclusive, high-performing culture that attracts and retains top talent

What you’ll bring
You are a proven digital leader with strong commercial acumen and a track record of building and scaling software delivery capabilities:

• 15+ years’ experience in software delivery, including leadership roles in consulting or professional services
• Experience leading large, multi-disciplinary teams across engineering, BA, PM and platform functions
• Strong commercial capability, including P&L ownership, forecasting and revenue growth
• Demonstrated success in winning and delivering complex software engagements
• Experience establishing delivery methodologies, governance frameworks and operating models at scale
• Strong understanding of modern delivery practices (Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, cloud-native technologies)
• Executive-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Qualifications:

• Degree in IT, Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline (preferred)
• Relevant certifications (e.g. Agile, PRINCE2, AWS, Azure) advantageous
