The Director Site Operations owns the overall critical facilities operations for one, or more, of our data center campuses and will directly manage the Facility Manager or team of Facility Managers in the campus plus the campus Security Manager who is accountable for both safety and security compliance. This position primarily interfaces with Customer Experience, Reliability Engineering, Critical Facilities Support, Design Engineering and Construction in the overall location. This position will oversee the workflow/work order management, training plans, event management, hiring and performance management of the Critical Facilities Engineering team.


Essential Job Functions

  • Drive high levels of quality across the local campus by ensuring the team is proficient in planning, preparing, performing, and reporting on maintenance activities.
  • Ensure the Critical Facilities Engineering team maintains fully reliable infrastructure, emphasizing energy efficiency, continuity of services, within budgetary constraints.
  • Develop and approve critical maintenance plans, testing plans, sparing methods, capital planning, replacement at end of life, and expansion of existing facilities, while minimizing customer risks.
  • Ensure all physical processes and work activities performed on site are in accordance with Vantage's Safety, Physical Security, and Critical Facilities policies and approved procedures.
  • Ensure the Critical Facilities Engineering team in the campus maintains customer-focus to resolve customer service issues quickly and efficiently.

Duties

  • Manage allocated resources to achieve desired results relating to customer satisfaction, infrastructure reliability, site-level budget, key performance indicators according to guidelines given by Vantage.
  • Collaborate with EHS to implement strategies that create an exemplary workplace safety culture.
  • Ensure that the site is supported by Vantage Operations with Best Practice standards employed and 100% compliant to all regulatory elements in force.
  • Ensure adequate training of all Critical Facilities Engineers and other personnel on electrical/ mechanical equipment, system maintenance, repairs, and operation.
  • Working with your peers and the Vice President, Operations APAC to determine appropriate team performance goals and manage those to completion.
  • Encourage and foster a team-oriented environment through positive feedback.
  • Evaluate and manage performance reviews for all employees in your organization, seek out input from others and provide feedback and coaching to manage individuals and teams.
  • Produce a variety of reliable reports, data, and metrics, in line with Vantage leadership requests.
  • Contribute to the prospective customer opportunities, includes providing input to tender responses, participating in calls, and facilitating customer site visits, when needed.
  • Ensure best practices are employed for customer implementation projects, with the aim of completing the project on time, at the agreed price and delivering all other contractual obligations fully.
  • Ensure a world-class customer service reputation for current and future Vantage customers.
  • Manage relationships between: Vantage Operations and any customer activities on site; and 3rd party suppliers, vendors, internal and external providers.
  • Contribute to the management of the deployment of tools and systems, in close collaboration with Vantage Technology & Systems.
  • Act as senior representative of the business in Taiwan (R.O.C.).

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related field, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 10+ years of experience in facility/plant engineering and maintenance supervision, strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of direct managerial experience and interpersonal skills, strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Data Center or Critical Infrastructure industries strongly preferred.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, influencing and negotiating at the most senior levels.
  • Ability to lead and engage people in a fast-changing environment to achieve results through others.
  • Able to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environment and deliver results.
  • Be assertive, committed, and able to perform multiple tasks independently and efficiently.
  • Effective cross-function collaboration to achieve shared goals and deliver business objectives.
  • Confident decision maker, even with incomplete or limited information.
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to communicate internally with team members as well as externally with vendors and other service providers.
  • Proven track record of managing periods of significant people, process and technology change.
  • Assertive and confident and able to quickly build a high level of personal and professional credibility within the business and customer base.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and other office applications.
  • Ability to understand building automation systems (BMS/CMMS), proficiency in design and technical documentation applications (AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Procore).
  • Travel is expected to be less than 5%, occasionally for leadership meetings and training purposes.
