Aquatech is seeking a strategic and visionary Director/Senior Director of Commercial Engineering to lead the development and execution of a scalable global commercial engineering organization. This highly visible leadership role will drive commercial engineering excellence across the company by establishing global standards, governance frameworks, risk management practices, and operating principles that support sustainable business growth.

The successful candidate will possess a unique blend of business acumen, technical expertise, organizational leadership, and emotional intelligence. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping Aquatech's future commercial engineering capabilities while directly leading North American commercial engineering resources supporting Mobile Water and Build-Own-Operate (BOO) businesses.

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Develop and execute the long-term vision for Aquatech's global commercial engineering organization.
  • Define scalable operating models, governance structures, and organizational frameworks to support future growth.
  • Partner with executive leadership to align commercial engineering capabilities with strategic business objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability, operational effectiveness, and commercial competitiveness.
  • Lead organizational transformation initiatives that enhance consistency, efficiency, and execution across regions.

Global Commercial Engineering Excellence

  • Establish and maintain global commercial engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Create standardized methodologies for technical evaluations, solution development, proposal generation, and commercial reviews.
  • Implement key performance indicators and continuous improvement programs to drive organizational effectiveness.
  • Promote engineering excellence, accountability, innovation, and knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Ensure alignment between regional teams and global business objectives.

Proposal Quality & Risk Management

  • Establish global proposal development standards and governance processes.
  • Develop risk assessment frameworks that address technical, commercial, contractual, operational, and execution risks.
  • Lead bid/no-bid governance and proposal review processes.
  • Improve proposal quality, consistency, and win probability through disciplined review and approval procedures.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Operations, and Project Execution teams to ensure balanced risk management practices.

Fleet & BOO Application Engineering Leadership

  • Provide strategic leadership for application engineering activities supporting Mobile Water and BOO operations.
  • Develop engineering standards that optimize fleet utilization, reliability, operational performance, and profitability.
  • Support growth initiatives through innovative technical solutions and standardized design approaches.
  • Partner with operations leaders to maximize asset performance and recurring revenue opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement in technical solution development and asset deployment strategies.

Talent & Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing commercial engineering teams.
  • Build organizational capability through succession planning, talent development, and workforce planning.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion diversity of thought and create an environment where employees can contribute and grow.
  • Attract and retain top engineering talent capable of supporting Aquatech's future growth objectives.

North America Commercial Engineering Leadership

  • Provide direct leadership for North American commercial engineering resources supporting Mobile Water and BOO businesses.
  • Coordinate resource planning and prioritization across business units.
  • Support strategic pursuits, customer engagements, and executive-level business reviews.
  • Collaborate with regional and global stakeholders to drive consistent execution and customer success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressive engineering, commercial, project development, or technical leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering or commercial organizations in industrial, infrastructure, or technology-driven businesses.
  • Strong understanding of proposal development, commercial risk management, and business operations.
  • Proven success developing organizational processes, governance frameworks, and scalable operating models.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in a complex, matrixed environment.
