Your Team

The Director of Risk & Compliance provides visionary leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and strengthen organisational integrity. This role leads a collaborative team of risk and compliance professionals who partner closely with the business, delivering second-line support and trusted advisory. The team champions the application of risk management frameworks, tools, and processes, enabling CFS to achieve its strategic priorities.

Key contributions include embedding robust compliance practices, guiding senior leadership on governance matters, modernising risk management through data and technology, fostering a transparent and ethical culture, and integrating ESG considerations. By benchmarking against industry standards and promoting continuous improvement, the role enhances risk and compliance maturity and supports sustainable governance across the organisation.

The Director, Risk & Compliance reports to the Executive Director, Risk & Compliance.

We are seeking candidates with experience to Partner with our Finance and Funds Services business unit, so strong capability in financial risk management within a wealth organisation is strongly advantageous.

Your Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior leaders and Boards on complex risk and compliance matters, shaping sound governance and strategic decisions.
  • Embed and maintain risk and compliance frameworks across the organisation to ensure regulatory alignment and operational resilience.
  • Provide Line 2 challenge and insights to support informed, risk-based business decisions within agreed risk appetite.
  • Interpret risk and compliance reporting and dashboards, delivering actionable insights for executives and Boards.
  • Champion an ethical and inclusive risk culture, promoting transparency, accountability, and proactive issue management.

Your Capability and Experience

  • Proven track record of senior advisory expertise in risk and compliance within wealth management, with demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with executives and Boards.
  • Strong capability in financial risk management.
  • Strong technical foundation, including a relevant degree (Law, Finance) and deep understanding of superannuation, investments, and adviser business models.
  • Strategic and analytical mindset, evidenced by critical thinking, complex business analysis, and customer-focused approaches in integrated business models.
  • Exceptional leadership and inclusive collaboration skills, with experience leading specialist teams and driving cross-functional influence to deliver business outcomes.
  • Forward-thinking approach, leveraging technology, AI, ESG integration, and industry benchmarking to modernise compliance practices and manage emerging risks.
