Job Description

Create your best future and join Westpac as a Director, Relationship FX North

What’s the role?

This is a senior, client facing leadership role with accountability for sustainably growing Westpac’s Relationship FX franchise across NSW and Queensland.

You will lead by example, setting the tone for a high performing team of senior Relationship FX dealers, while retaining personal coverage of a portfolio of large and complex wholesale classified customers across the Business and Wealth division. Sitting within Westpac Financial Markets’ Business and Consumer Group, you’ll deliver market share growth, deepen primary FX relationships, and position Westpac as the trusted partner for complex FX risk management, execution and advisory solutions.

This role is about relationships as much as markets. You’ll work closely with customers, bankers and execution teams to uncover opportunities, deepen existing partnerships and grow the FX business in your region. You’ll play a key role in shaping a strong, collaborative team culture by coaching, developing and supporting your people while also ensuring compliant, high‑quality outcomes.

This is a full‑time role based in Sydney, with responsibility for customers and team members across NSW and QLD.

What do I need?

To succeed in this role, you’ll be a proven FX sales leader with a strong personal franchise. You’ll have the experience and credibility to lead senior dealers and engage confidently with large, sophisticated customers and internal stakeholders. You will be recognised by your clients and team as a leading FX dealer, bringing strong advisory FX capability, a people‑first leadership style and a commercial mindset. You’ll be comfortable balancing client coverage with leading and developing a high‑performing team.

Additionally, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading a team of dealers to grow a foreign exchange business covering wholesale clients, including setting clear expectations, coaching performance, building capability and role modelling strong risk and conduct standards.
  • Proven ability to grow a high value portfolio of clients with history of achieving sales objectives as an individual and as a leader.
  • Exceptional understanding of FX products, deal systems and advanced principles of FX risk management, to enable appropriate education of customers and bankers.
  • Relevant education and professional accreditation, including AFMA.
