Job Description

You’re collaborative and leverage the experience of others, drawing on collective skills and wisdom for the team to develop and succeed.

This is your opportunity to broaden your experience and perspectives, step out of the confines of a standard project role and expand your scope to work with an interconnected ecosystem of industry professionals.

In this role, you'll:

Lead the engineering, design and assurance function for Sydney Metro for the delivery of one of the new metro lines, ensuring technical solutions are safe, reliable and delivered in line with project objectives. You’ll play a key role in positioning the organisation as an intelligent client, providing expert oversight of design and engineering outcomes from development through construction, testing and commissioning.

You’ll work closely with delivery partners, contractors and internal technical teams to ensure engineering and design activities meet required standards for safety, quality, time and cost. This includes leading assurance and systems engineering processes, coordinating technical inputs across the project lifecycle and ensuring design solutions are practical, compliant and aligned to long-term operational needs.

Leading a team of engineering and design professionals, you’ll drive strong technical governance, support informed decision-making and ensure resources are effectively deployed to meet project demands. You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement across engineering and design practices, supporting the successful delivery of outcomes for the Sydney Metro program, including the Western Sydney Airport project.

This is a fixed term full time role until 30th June 2028.

About you

You’re an experienced engineering or design leader with a strong track record delivering complex infrastructure projects, ideally within rail or transport environments. You bring deep technical knowledge across the engineering lifecycle, from design development through to construction, testing and commissioning, along with a strong focus on safety, assurance and quality outcomes.

You’re confident leading multidisciplinary technical teams and working closely with contractors and delivery partners to resolve complex issues and maintain delivery momentum. Your ability to provide clear technical direction and sound judgement enables you to manage risk, ensure compliance and drive consistent engineering standards across large-scale projects.

You’re also a credible and collaborative leader who builds capability within teams and fosters strong working relationships across stakeholders. With a focus on continuous improvement and technical excellence, you support the delivery of safe, efficient and customer-focused infrastructure outcomes.
