Job Description

Job Purpose

The role is responsible driving Centre for Advanced, Professional & Executive Education (CAPE) strategic agenda in product innovation, digital learning transformation and technology enablement to drive sustainable growth, market relevance and scalable professional education offerings. The role is responsible for shaping a future-ready portfolio of executive, professional and lifelong learning products; strengthening CAPE’s digital learning ecosystem; fostering strategic partnerships; and ensuring high standards of quality, governance and performance excellence across product and technology functions.

Key Accountabilities:

Product Portfolio Strategy and Innovation

  • Develop and drive CAPE’s integrated product portfolio strategy aligned with institutional priorities, industry demand and emerging workforce trends.

  • Identify new growth opportunities in executive education, professional certification, microcredentials, industry-based learning and lifelong learning segments.

  • Lead market intelligence, competitor benchmarking and customer insights initiatives to inform new product development and portfolio positioning.

  • Champion innovation culture within CAPE by promoting agile experimentation, industry-driven solutions and future-focused learning models.

Product Lifecycle and Commercialisation Leadership

  • Oversee the strategic governance of the product lifecycle from ideation, validation and launch through enhancement, renewal and retirement.

  • Establish frameworks and decision-making processes for product prioritisation, portfolio optimisation and commercial viability assessment.

  • Guide product teams in ensuring programmes remain relevant, scalable and responsive to evolving professional and industry needs.

  • Monitor product performance indicators including enrolment trends, learner engagement, profitability and market competitiveness.

Digital Learning Products & Professional Learning Experience

  • Lead the development of digitally enabled learning products including microcredentials, stackable certifications, digital academies, blended programmes and on-demand executive learning solutions.

  • Drive innovation in professional learning experiences through interactive, flexible and learner-centric digital delivery approaches.

  • Ensure digital products leverage learning technologies effectively to enhance accessibility, scalability, learner engagement and measurable outcomes.

  • Explore emerging learning models and technologies such as AI-enabled learning, adaptive learning pathways and immersive digital learning experiences.

Digital Ecosystem & Learning Technology Leadership

  • Provide strategic leadership for CAPE’s digital learning ecosystem, including the reliability, scalability and continuous enhancement of the Learning Management System (LMS) and related platforms.

  • Define and implement digital technology roadmaps that support business growth, operational scalability and superior learner experiences.

  • Lead governance and optimisation of digital learning infrastructure, systems integration, data management and user experience standards.

  • Collaborate with internal technology teams and external partners to ensure robust, secure and future-ready digital platforms and services.

Strategic Partnerships & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and strengthen strategic partnerships with industry, professional bodies, technology providers, government agencies and academic stakeholders to expand CAPE’s market reach and innovation capabilities.

  • Lead engagement with strategic clients and partners to co-create market-relevant learning solutions and collaborative programmes.

  • Represent CAPE in strategic forums, industry engagements and partnership discussions related to professional and executive education innovation.

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration within the university ecosystem to support integrated delivery of digital and professional education initiatives.

Compliance, Quality & Governance

  • Ensure all products, digital learning initiatives and technology practices comply with institutional policies, accreditation requirements and relevant regulatory standards.

  • Establish governance frameworks for product approval, digital learning quality assurance, technology risk management and data integrity.

  • Drive continuous quality enhancement initiatives to uphold high standards in learner experience, content delivery and digital operations.

  • Oversee compliance related to online learning standards, intellectual property, learner data protection and digital platform governance.

Product, Digital & Technology Performance Excellence

  • Establish and monitor strategic performance indicators for product portfolio growth, digital platform effectiveness, learner engagement and technology-enabled service delivery.

  • Lead periodic performance reviews, analytics reporting and strategic assessments related to product and digital ecosystem performance.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise product impact, operational scalability and digital learning effectiveness.

  • Ensure timely reporting and data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making and innovation prioritisation within CAPE.

Team Leadership & Capability Development

  • Lead and develop high-performing teams across product management, digital learning and technology functions.

  • Build organisational capability in digital learning innovation, product strategy, educational technologies and market-driven programme development.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement within the division.

  • Mentor and guide managers and team members in strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement and innovation leadership competencies.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Recognised Bachelor’s Degree and preferably Master’s Degree in Educational Technology, Digital Learning, Technology Management, Digital Transformation, Business Administration, Engineering and Computer Sciences or related fields. Professional certifications in digital learning, product management, innovation, project management, learning technologies or executive education are an added advantage.

  • Minimum 12–15 years of progressive leadership experience in professional education, executive education, higher education, learning innovation, digital learning, product management or related industries.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading strategic product portfolio development, market-driven programme innovation and commercially oriented learning solutions.

  • Strong exposure in digital learning ecosystems, Learning Management Systems (LMS), online learning platforms and technology-enabled education delivery models.

  • Proven experience in driving organisational transformation, innovation initiatives and strategic partnerships with industry, professional bodies and external stakeholders.

  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams and leading multidisciplinary initiatives involving product, technology and learning operations.

  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, lifelong learning trends, executive education models and workforce upskilling ecosystems.

  • Experience in governance, accreditation, quality assurance and compliance related to higher education or professional learning environments is highly desirable.

Additional Recommended Requirement (Optional)

  • Familiarity with national higher education frameworks, microcredential ecosystems, lifelong learning initiatives and accreditation requirements within Malaysia and/or international professional education environments.
