Job Description

NHS Marketing
Gatwick, UK

This role isn’t just about launching medicines — it’s about shaping how the NHS experiences innovation. As Director, you’ll define customer-centric strategies, open new therapy areas and steer a portfolio that influences the UK healthcare.

Your new role

As the Director, Portfolio & Launch Strategy, you will be responsible for developing, managing and executing strategies across the organisation’s product portfolio. You will develop and deliver a customer centric UK strategy for new therapy areas, including market development, go-to-market strategy, organizational awareness and input to regional and global strategy for pipeline products. This will focus on a time horizon of five years pre-launch to transfer to and/or establishment of a commercial business unit.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as an active, collaborative marketing leader by driving decision-making, fostering a strong leadership culture, ensuring succession and compliance and partnering effectively across the business.
  • Lead end-to-end portfolio and launch strategy from early pipeline planning through commercial transition, ensuring effective decision-making and successful market entry.
  • Drive effective execution of strategic plans by defining UK market insights and go-to-market strategies, shaping future structures and resourcing models and leading cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and organisational effectiveness in new product planning.
  • Build and maintain strategic external relationships with key healthcare and market access bodies as well as vendors and consultants to support effective commercialisation and new launch readiness.
  • Provide strong managerial and cross-functional leadership by coaching and developing direct reports, ensuring compliance with external standards, driving delivery of strategic brand plans, and sharing best practices while supporting broader strategic and cross-functional projects across the business.

Your new department

As the Associate Director, Portfolio & Launch Strategy will report to the Senior Director, NHS Marketing. You will lead a team of new product planners and serve as a core member of the NHS Marketing leadership team. In this role, you will drive the strategic planning and execution required to integrate new indications and assets into our commercial organisation, ensuring smooth adoption and maximum impact across the market.

The position is based at Gatwick where you will join a team of passionate professionals striving to make a meaningful impact.

Your skills & qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent within business or science.
  • Deep understanding of the UK NHS landscape and demonstrated success within marketing, market access and commercial strategy and operations.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with senior management and communicate effectively to the highest level.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with a variety of internal and external constituencies, develop partner relationships, and influence thinking of senior leadership members.
  • Strong decision-making skills through demonstrated ability to leverage evidence-based insights, foresight and sound judgement into strategy development, deployment and optimisation.
