The Department of Primary and Preventative Health Services is building a more resilient and sustainable health care system that can support Albertans getting care when and where they need it, while responding to system-wide health challenges, improving health outcomes, and maintaining fiscal responsibility. The ministry supports Albertans’ health and well-being throughout their lives by protecting public health and promoting wellness and coordinating and delivering safe, person-centered, quality health services.
The Director, Policy Coordination and Engagement provides strategic leadership and oversight for department policy coordination. Reporting to the Executive Director, the position plays a key role in aligning policy priorities, stakeholder engagement, and executive decision-making to support the delivery of timely, high-quality advice to senior leadership and government.
The Director is responsible for leading the coordination of complex, cross-ministry policy initiatives and overseeing engagement activities that inform policy development and implementation. The Director is required to synthesize policy, legislative, stakeholder, and operational information to provide strategic advice, recommendations, and solutions to senior leadership. The Director must be capable of managing multiple priorities concurrently while maintaining a strategic, ministry-wide perspective.

Minimum Recruitment Standards
University graduation in Public Administration (or a related field) plus 7 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
Related diploma and minimum of 9 years related experience; related certificate and minimum of 10 years related experience; minimum of 11 years related experience.

Hours of Work are Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week (full-time).
This position is located full-time from downtown Edmonton.
