The Platform Operations team monitors and responds to operational events across Akamai's globally distributed platform. The team is responsible for ensuring the availability and reliability of the infrastructure that power Akamai's products. Operational excellence and change safety are at the core of everything we do, enabling us to deliver an exceptional product experience.

Partner with the best

As a Director, Platform Operations, you will lead a globally distributed team of talented engineers. You will partner closely with Engineering, Networks and other cross-functional teams to drive rapid incident response and minimize service impact. You will also lead strategic initiatives to enhance operational excellence and strengthen change safety. These efforts will reduce operational toil and improve reliability of Akamai's platform.

As a Director Platform Operations you will be responsible for:

• Leading global Platform Operations teams supporting Akamai's distributed cloud infrastructure and services.
• Defining the strategic vision and roadmap for enhancing operational capabilities.
• Driving process optimization, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across global operations.
• Leading global programs and cross-functional initiatives that enhance platform availability and reliability.
• Championing AI, automation, and innovation to improve efficiency and operational effectiveness.
• Championing AI, automation, and tooling initiatives that enhance efficiency, scalability, and service reliability.
• Applying systems thinking to scale operations, manage risks, and support business objectives.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 12+ years of experience in managing large scale operations and infrastructure.
• Have hands-on experience in developing tools and automation using Python and AI models to improve operational efficiency.
• Have experience leading global teams supporting mission-critical platforms in a 24x7environment.
• Demonstrate expertise in Linux, distributed systems & cloud infrastructure.
• Possess executive communication, stakeholder management, and data-driven decision-making skills.
