Position Title

Director, Plant OperationsDays - Full TimeLiberty Hospital

Career Interest:

Manages the departments of Engineering, Security and Grounds. Plans, organizes, and oversees the hospital's facilities operations, construction/remodeling, telecommunications, security surveillance and access systems. Oversees the development and evaluation of hospital's compliance with the Joint Commissions Environment of Care standards as well as general safety guidelines and related procedures. Serves as the hospital's Safety Officer. Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

  • Program Development/Leadership: Manage departmental operations and financial objectives; assume management responsibility for direct report areas; plan and formulate policy related to function and operation of departmental reporting areas; work in collaboration with peers and staff to ensure effective operation; provide regular reports and feedback
  • Strategic Planning and Development: Participate in hospital-wide and product line strategic planning; assume lead role in implementation of the plan; predict future capital and operational resource needs; develop business plan
  • Marketing and Community Networking: Develop and implement the annual marketing plan in conjunction with senior management; establish and maintain relationships with other hospitals, networks, physicians, and community entities to strengthen referral base and contract affiliations; develop innovative service packages which respond to stated or implied customer needs
  • Financial and Quality Accountability: Maintain analysis and act upon financial information related to departmental operations; develop budget recommendations and implementation of continual attention toward cost effectiveness that is consistent with the standards of quality and efficiency
  • Customer Relations: Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement strategic objectives; maintain strong collaborative relationship with, patient care and support staff; obtain customer input and utilize results to make service improvement; enforce HIPAA
  • Patient Safety: Actively participate in safe practices; identify and report potentially hazardous situations; take immediate action when necessary to protect the health and well-being of patients, visitors and co-workers; work collaboratively to safeguarding patients
  • Quality Enhancement: Effectively monitor, manage, and improve all processes in order to achieve excellence with regard to operations, construction, security and grounds services; use benchmarks to monitor quality enhancement efforts
  • Staff Recruitment/Retention: Enhance skills and performance of others by systematically providing clear objectives, performance specific feedback, effective coaching and developmental experiences/opportunities; support and implement effective change; ensure teamwork by working toward shared purpose through collaboration/partnering with others; attract and retain quality staff, assess adequacy of staffing, respond to employee relations issues; serve as an effective role model
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree OR Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • 5 or more years in building and plant maintenance.
  • Management experience and construction management experience.


Knowledge Requirements

  • Must have strong knowledge of Joint Commission Environment of Care standards and fire and building codes.
