Job Description

Director – Planning & Mobility

Amazing, once-in-a-career opportunity to lead WSP in Australia's industry-leading National Planning and Mobility business.

What if you could do the kind of work the world needs?

At WSP, we see the world differently. We’re one of the world’s top professional services firms, home to planners, engineers, advisors, and scientists who bring curiosity, innovation, and diverse perspectives to everything we do. Join our community of Visioneers and build a career shaped by your strengths, ambition, and purpose.

Our National Planning and Mobility business brings together sustainable transport planning, transport integration, active and new mobility, ITS, traffic engineering, transport modelling and event and venue planning. We are one of the largest teams of our kind in Australia, operating nationally and connecting globally.

The time is now. We are mid‑cycle in our 2025–2027 strategic plan, with strong momentum and a clear mandate to shape the 2028–2030 strategy. With growth and market leadership at the centre, this is a role for a strategic thinker who applies deep technical insight to real‑world challenges.

About the Role.

As Director – Planning & Mobility, you will lead our national business group and serve as a key member of the Advisory Leadership Team. You will define strategic direction, guide operational and financial performance, and support the delivery of high‑value technical solutions across all transport planning disciplines.

In this role you will:

  • Lead performance and growth across a national team of over 100 people and a portfolio exceeding $25M.
  • Deliver the strategic plan for the business group and contribute to WSP’s broader Australian strategy.
  • Strengthen collaboration across local, national and global teams, leveraging international expertise where it adds value.
  • Foster a culture built on safety, ethics, performance, and engagement.
  • Mentor leaders and emerging talent across the business.
  • Build enduring client relationships and create new growth opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with governance, quality, and risk management frameworks.
  • Partner with leaders across all parts of WSP to deliver integrated solutions.

This role can be performed from anywhere in Australia, with a preference for the major cities to support connection to our clients and our people. We welcome applications from all States and Territories.

About You.

You are a renowned, influential and proactive leader with deep experience in the transport and mobility industry. Commercially astute, you bring a track record of leading and growing multidisciplinary teams of over 100 people across multiple states, with P&L accountability for portfolios above $25M within a consultancy environment.

Future-focused, collaborative, and driven by meaningful outcomes, you know how to bring people together, build capability, and shape a business that sets the benchmark for the industry.

You are passionate about creating solutions for our clients, providing them with advice that ‘matters’ and building the next generation of practitioners and leaders across our industry to give our people the extraordinary career that they deserve.

You will bring:

  • Extensive experience leading multidisciplinary technical and project teams.
  • A proven record of managing large P&L portfolios.
  • Strong commercial acumen and sustained operational and financial performance outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success in building trusted client relationships and driving strategic growth.
  • The ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and influence outcomes.
  • A commitment to ethical leadership, safety, and the wellbeing of your people
  • A passion for mentoring, developing, and inspiring the next generation of leaders.
  • A growth mindset and an inclusive approach that supports collaboration across teams and geographies.

Imagine a better future for you and a better future for us all.

Join our close-knit community of talented individuals who share your passion for making a positive impact. Our global team includes more than 83,000 employees, working together to make a difference in communities both close to home and around the world.

An employee Share Purchase Plan is available to all our permanent employees who wish to become owners and vested partners in WSP’s collective success.
