COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Expected Salary Range: $90,000 – 100,000
(Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.)

WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE
This role is based on campus and operates in a professional office environment. The position requires regular collaboration across departments and attendance at university meetings and events. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required based on institutional needs, student support activities, or emergency response situations.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Director of the Office of Student Engagement and Success provides strategic leadership and oversight for student engagement, support, success, and retention initiatives across the university. Reporting to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost, this role ensures alignment between student affairs and academic programs while advancing a culture of student success, inclusion, and engagement.

The Director ensures students have access to coordinated resources, compliant practices, and inclusive programs that promote retention, engagement, persistence, and graduation. The position also plays a critical role in civil rights compliance, crisis response, and institutional accountability.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Office of Student Engagement and Success, including the Student Services Unit, Student Success Unit, Office of Civil Rights and Accountability, and Optometric Student Services Unit.
- Collaborate closely with Academic Affairs and other departments to support student success, retention, and engagement.
- Oversee student retention strategies, assessment, and reporting in partnership with campus stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to student affairs, including Title IX, FERPA, ADA accommodations, Clery Act, and civil rights requirements.
- Serve on the Provost Council and other university councils as delegated.
- Act as a liaison with the Office of Civil Rights and Institutional Equity and Human Resources regarding employee and student claims, ensuring timely and unbiased responses.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate programs that support academic success, student engagement, wellness, and counseling services.
- Lead emergency response planning for residential and post-professional students in coordination with university emergency management.
- Manage departmental budgets and steward resources to support strategic priorities.
- Foster a culture of inclusion, belonging, and student-centered service.
- Oversee the RMU Student Senate, including meetings, issue tracking, communication, and student representation.
- Review and approve student-led fundraising activities and ensure proper tracking and compliance.
- Address escalated student concerns, issues, and grievances in alignment with institutional policies.
- Support accreditation efforts related to student affairs and academic programs.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Education
- Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in student affairs, preferably within a healthcare or health sciences education environment.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Extensive knowledge of higher education and student affairs operations.
- Demonstrated experience with program development, budget management, and staff supervision.
- Strong understanding of laws and regulations impacting student affairs (Title IX, FERPA, ADA, Clery Act).
- Proven ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and present data to inform decision-making
