Job Description

emergiTEL is hiring a Director, Originator (International Trade & Transaction Banking) for our client in the Corporate & Investment Banking industry. This is a Permanent role.
Compensation: $160,000 - $200,000/year
Location: Toronto, ON

  • Lead origination and execution of International Trade & Transaction Banking (ITB) transactions across Canada, covering corporate clients, financial institutions, and non-bank financial institutions.
  • Own the full deal lifecycle from origination through structuring, credit approval, negotiation, and closing.
  • Maintain and grow an existing portfolio of clients while generating new business opportunities in collaboration with Coverage (senior banking) teams.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (coverage, credit, legal, operations, accounting, and back office) to deliver seamless deal execution.
  • Develop targeted client pitches, commercial strategies, and RFI/RFP responses to engage senior stakeholders.
  • Analyze client financials, trade flows, working capital cycles, and supply chain structures to design tailored financing solutions.
  • Structure and execute products including:
    • Export Finance (ECA-backed financing, multilateral agency loans)
    • Trade Finance (letters of credit, guarantees, structured commodity finance)
    • Working Capital Solutions (supply chain finance, receivables purchase, inventory financing)
    • Transaction Banking (short-term working capital loans, cash management)
  • Lead credit processes and prepare high-quality credit submissions, term sheets, and marketing materials.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, and documentation in collaboration with legal teams.
  • Represent the organization at client meetings and industry events; build a strong origination franchise in Canada.
  • Travel across Canada approximately 30–40% of the time to support client engagement and deal origination.
  • Manage and mentor one junior resource locally while operating as a self-sufficient, front-office dealmaker.
  • Coordinate with global ITB hubs (e.g., New York, Paris, London, Asia) to support cross-border mandates.
Ideal Candidate
  • 7–10 years of experience in banking or financial services in a front-office origination/sales role.
  • Proven track record in trade finance, supply chain finance, and structured transactions.
  • Strong product expertise across working capital and trade finance solutions.
  • Experience working with large corporate clients; Canadian market experience is an asset.
  • Ability to operate independently with a lean team while driving revenue growth.
  • Strong stakeholder management and client-facing skills at the executive level.
