Responsible for maintaining and enhancing existing wholesale customer relationships, as well as originating new opportunities. Such activities include developing and executing strategies, overseeing administration of requests for proposals, contract negotiation and project due diligence, negotiating power purchase agreements and coordination with shared services and internal stakeholders for the approval, implementation, and management of such process.

What You'll Do:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with existing and prospective wholesale counterparties, including cooperatives, municipals, investor-owned utilities, and other marketers in this space. Participates in the origination of capacity and energy commodities, coordinated closely with the company's strategic plans.
  • Responsibilities include navigating the vetting process to gain internal consensus and approvals, managing the various support teams through final execution, including gaining input from departments such as Pricing, Legal, Credit, Accounting, Risk Management, Settlements, and Trading. Acting as a liaison between Wholesale Origination, Trading, Scheduling, and Bid Optimization, and/or other commercial transactions and implementations as appropriate.
  • Prepare responses to Request for Proposals (RFPs) and develop pricing strategies for various energy and capacity products, on-site generation, renewable products and structured commodity transactions and work with outside partnership agreements to develop alternate customer solutions.
  • Ownership of the relationship after the transaction is completed, including all internal and external communications with all relevant counterparties that can support building trust with the customer.
  • Maintain ongoing P&L responsibility to keep senior management abreast of the deal flow and contributions to the earnings targets of the marketing team.
  • Represent the company in various industry forums, including industry, marketing, and municipal and cooperative conferences.
  • Mentor other originators and rotational analysts

What We're Looking For:
​Education: BS Business, Engineering, Finance, or related field.

Experience: 10 years of energy industry experience to lead wholesale opportunities, customer relationships, as well as negotiating and executing complex structured transactions while managing the entire origination process to completion. Some combination of modeling, structuring, trading/marketing, risk management, contract work, and management is essential to successful implementation of this role, along with a firm understanding of the various financial RTOs of PJM, MISO, ERCOT and SPP.

  • Travel: Extensive travel is expected. At times could be up to half the time.
  • Other: Physical demand level is Sedentary Candidate must possess great interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, history of attention to detail, effective organizational skills, and ability to work under strict deadlines and to manage conflicting priorities.
