Job Description

Senior Director, Workforce Development
Everblue  ·  Huntersville, NC  ·  Hybrid

About Everblue

Everblue helps government agencies and nonprofits run better through software, program management, and workforce training. Our workforce division trains thousands of people every year on the skills behind real programs: weatherization, energy auditing, BPI, RESNET, LEED, solar, and more. We’re a small, mission-driven team that’s low-ego, hardworking, and obsessed with getting it done and done right.

The role

We’re hiring a Senior Director of Workforce Development to lead Everblue’s entire workforce business. You’ll report to the Vice President of Operations and own the performance of four teams: Weatherization Programs, Commercial & Open Enrollment Programs, Apprenticeships, and Training Operations. The job is to deliver excellent results to our customers while running a profitable, adaptable, and growing portfolio.

What you’ll own

  • Leading the workforce division. Coach and hold accountable three Directors. Build the operating rhythm that keeps the whole division humming.
  • Owning customer relationships. Get on a text-message basis with our senior-most workforce customers. Know every contract inside and out, from both our side and theirs.
  • Driving profitability. Make sure contracts are delivered well and the economics work. Manage risk. Find the clever path.
  • Adapting and growing. Workforce evolves fast. Try new programs, kill the ones that don’t work, double down on what does. Help us stand up new lines of business.
  • Reporting up. Give the VP of Operations and President a clear, honest read on what’s working, what isn’t, and what needs to change.

What we’re looking for

  • 5 to 10 years leading multi-team operations. Workforce development, training, education services, or a similar program-delivery business is a strong plus.
  • Experience hiring, developing, and (when needed) parting ways with managers and directors.
  • Customer instinct. You build trust with senior client stakeholders quickly and keep it.
  • Adaptability. You embrace experiments and you’re comfortable when the business changes around you.
  • Commercial cleverness. You know how to delight customers and protect the P&L at the same time.
  • A bias to deliver on the intent behind every task, not just the letter of it. When you’re handed a problem, you go figure it out. No excuses, no reminders needed. (If A Message to Garcia doesn’t already mean something to you, give it a read.)
  • Someone who stays curious and keeps ego low You’d rather get the right answer than be the smartest person in the room.

Our values

  • Mission-Driven. We get it done and done right. We deliver on the intent behind every task. We own the outcome.
  • Relentless Pursuit of Excellence. We challenge the status quo, stay curious, keep ego low, and stay efficient and resourceful.
  • People First. We lead with trust, stay personable and real, and work hard and play hard.

Why you’ll love working here

  • Mission that matters. Your work powers real workforce, energy, and efficiency programs across the U.S.
  • Hybrid setup based at our Huntersville, NC office. Flexible enough to do great work and have a great life.
  • Competitive compensation with bonus eligibility, a SIMPLE IRA with company match, and a health reimbursement program.
  • A small, capable team that moves fast, ships well, and stays out of each other’s way.
