Job Description

At eBay, we're more than a global ecommerce leader — we’re changing the way the world shops and sells. Our platform empowers millions of buyers and sellers in more than 190 markets around the world. We’re committed to pushing boundaries and leaving our mark as we reinvent the future of ecommerce for enthusiasts.

Our customers are our compass, authenticity thrives, bold ideas are welcome, and everyone can bring their unique selves to work — every day. We're in this together, sustaining the future of our customers, our company, and our planet.

Join a team of passionate thinkers, innovators, and dreamers — and help us connect people and build communities to create economic opportunity for all.

Fast moving, mission driven, and relentlessly focused on impact, eBay’s Global Trust team ensures every interaction between millions of buyers and sellers is safe, fair, and reliable. We are redefining what trust means in a dynamic marketplace, delivering experiences that inspire confidence and empower economic opportunity for everyone. Our team of policy, strategy, and operations experts ensures expectations for both buyers and sellers are clear, easy to follow, and executed smoothly across eBay globally. It sounds simple, but at eBay’s scale and speed it is anything but.

As Director of Trust for eBay Live, you will define and lead the end-to-end trust strategy, operating model, and execution plan for one of eBay’s most important growth plays. Trust is the foundation of every interaction between buyers and sellers, and this is especially true in eBay Live, our rapidly scaling live commerce platform where people connect, interact, and transact in real time. You will shape how trust shows up across the full eBay Live experience, from policy and protections through moderation, standards, issue resolution, and post-transaction experiences, ensuring buyers and sellers participate with confidence.

This role requires an accomplished leader who can move seamlessly between long-term strategy and day-to-day execution. You will deeply understand the competitive environment, buyer and seller needs, and the evolution of live commerce, and translate those insights into clear priorities, strong cross-functional plans, and measurable marketplace outcomes. You will embed deeply with the eBay Live business while also staying tightly connected to the broader Global Trust agenda so that Live benefits from, and contributes to, the best thinking across the Trust organization.

You will partner closely with many teams - Product, Analytics, Engineering, Design, Customer Support, Policy, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Regulatory, and business teams to ensure eBay Live trust experiences are aligned, globally scalable, and operationally effective. You will also lead and develop a strong team of managers and individual contributors, building an organization that can operate at pace, deal with ambiguity, and deliver trusted experiences for the next phase of eBay Live growth.

The role will report to the Senior Director of Global Trust

What you’ll accomplish

Lead the end-to-end Trust strategy for eBay Live

  • Define the vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for Trust across eBay Live, ensuring eBay is the most trusted live commerce platform for buyers and sellers.

  • Lead the end-to-end Trust agenda across policy, protections, moderation, standards, issue resolution, and post-transaction experiences, ensuring these come together as one coherent customer experience.

  • Balance immediate execution needs with longer-term platform building, grounded in buyer and seller needs, competitive context, and emerging risks.

Lead cross-functional execution to deliver

  • Partner closely with senior leaders across eBay Live, Product Management, Engineering, Analytics, Design, Customer Support, Policy, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Regulatory to drive aligned, end-to-end solutions.

  • Represent the Trust perspective in key business and product decisions, balancing customer experience, marketplace integrity, policy consistency, and regulatory obligations.

  • Translate strategy into clear objectives, goals, plans, milestones, success metrics, and launches that deliver measurable outcomes.

Run the business and strengthen operational performance

  • Lead the operating cadence for Trust within eBay Live, ensuring priorities are visible, progress is tracked, and risks are surfaced early.

  • Monitor Live Trust performance globally, using customer insight, analytics, and AI-enabled approaches to identify issues, size opportunities, and improve decision-making.

  • Build and improve the processes, systems, reporting, and feedback loops needed to run Trust for eBay Live effectively at scale.

Build a high-performing team and strong partnerships

  • Lead, coach, and develop a strong team of managers and individual contributors, creating clarity, high standards, and strong development paths.

  • Build trusted partnerships across the organization, ensuring Trust is seen as a strategic partner to the eBay Live business.

  • Partner effectively across the broader Trust organization so that eBay Live remains aligned with broader plans, company-wide priorities, and shared capabilities.

What you’ll bring

  • Significant leadership experience in Trust and Safety, strategy and operations, marketplace operations, live commerce, or a related field, ideally in a global and fast-moving environment.

  • A proven track record to define strategy, drive execution, and build operating mechanisms that translate complex goals into measurable outcomes.

  • Strong customer instincts and judgment, with a deep appreciation for buyer and seller needs and the ability to balance growth, experience, fairness, and risk.

  • Outstanding executive communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence in a highly matrixed organization.

  • A data-driven attitude, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and comfort making decisions in ambiguous, fast-evolving situations.

  • The ability to zoom in and out, moving easily between policy and operational detail and broader strategic direction.

  • A pragmatic, inclusive, and collaborative leadership style, with a track record of leading complex, high-profile programs and delivering results under pressure.
