Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation has an opening for one (1) full time Director of the Student Success Center at the Franklin K. Lane Campus.
The Student Success Center (SSCC) is a college access program that works to sustain and grow a college-going culture through collaboration between community-based organizations and multi-school campuses. The SSC is staffed by adult counselors and youth leaders-high school students serving as trained peer mentors assisting fellow students with their college application process, and increasing college awareness/knowledge through workshops. The SSC team will work with the college guidance and school leadership teams from all three high schools at the Franklin K. Lane campus to support each school's post-secondary education goals. The SSC Director will manage programming ensuring program goals are met.
Principal Duties:
- Organize the delivery of student support and college access services provided by the SSC at the Franklin K. Lane campus
- Supervise and hire program staff including a team of full-time college counselors and youth leaders.
- Manage collaborative relationships with all campus schools to develop customized service plans to meet the needs of each school
- Facilitate weekly staff meetings and case conferencing processes.
- Create and implement professional development plans for all SSC staff
- Track progress toward meeting all outcomes and contractual obligations, and develop and execute action plans to address gaps.
- Oversee database and participant files, ensuring timely and accurate record keeping
- Support grant compliance, including monitoring activities, progress, and data tracking systems
- Facilitate college preparation workshops and train staff in facilitation
- Coordinate with the agency’s SYEP team providing on site support for the campus’s School Based SYEP programming
- Demonstrate commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change
- Ensure the maintenance and growth of the SSC through supporting fundraising activities and tracking SSC student utilization and outcomes
- Represent the program to funders; meet all reporting requirements for funding sources.
- Provide oversight and technical assistance for college promotion work in other CHLDC programs or externally
- Attend all required division and agency meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in Education/Social Work, or related field preferred
- Bi-lingual Spanish (preferred)
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in providing student support services, such as student advisement/counseling, tutoring, or group work
- Familiarity with the college admission process and application procedures
- Experience in facilitating groups and providing individual counseling
- Commitment to further strengthening the College Success Programs pipeline in Cypress Hills and East New York
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proven ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast paced work environment
- Significant experience working with adolescents and young adults
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy
- Commitment to youth development and strengths based perspectives
- Must clear DOE fingerprinting and background authorizations.

Compensation:
$75,000 year, or commensurate with experience
