
The Johns Hopkins Department of Medicine seeks candidates for the position of Director of the Division of Cardiology and Co-Director of the Heart and Vascular InstituteThe Division Director is a key leader in the Department of Medicine, serving as the leader of the Division's faculty, staff and trainees and overseeing an extensive portfolio of clinical care, research, and educational programs. The Division of Cardiology is the largest division in the Department of Medicine and is recognized nationally and globally as a leader in cardiovascular disease with an exceptional record of achievement across the tripartite mission. The Department of Medicine is the largest department in the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine with 18 divisions and over 3,000 faculty, nurses, staff and trainees.The DOM is an integral part of Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM), which includes a partnership between the School of Medicine and the Johns Hopkins Health System.The Department of Medicine (DOM) is among the top departments in National Institutes of Health funding with ~ $200 million annually in total sponsored research funding and is home to leading internal medicine residency programs in the country.A key strategic initiative of Johns Hopkins Medicine leadership is the growth and development of the Heart and Vascular Institute, which is a health system-wide service line approach to providing high quality, comprehensive care and the most advanced cardiovascular treatments known to medicine.
With over 118 full-time faculty, 45 full-time fellows, 36 advanced practice providers (APPs), and 174 staff, the Division of Cardiology excels in all elements of the tripartite mission, ranking among the leading Divisions in the nation. Committed to advancing biomedical discovery, faculty investigators pursue a wide range of research – from bench science to clinical and translational research. The fellowship programs attract outstanding applicants, seeking to be trained as future academic leaders. The Division of Cardiology clinicians care for patients from Baltimore, the Mid-Atlantic region and around the world with the full spectrum of cardiovascular disorders. The robust clinical services encompass high-volume outpatient services (> 70,000 visits in FY25), busy inpatient services, multiple sites for interventional procedures and cardiovascular imaging across the region, and numerous highly specialized services. The Division of Cardiology clinical locations include the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore and Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center, Sibley Memorial Hospital, Suburban Hospital, Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC), Frederick Health Hospital (FHH) as well as outpatient clinic sites across the region.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to promoting faculty development, recruiting and appointing new faculty, advancing innovative care models, and planning short- and long-term strategic growth aligned with Johns Hopkins Medicine’s mission. The Division Director reports to the Director of the Department of Medicine and will work with other senior leaders as appropriate.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
