Job Description

Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as the Director of System Pediatric Ambulatory Operations responsible for the operational and financial performance of multiple pediatric ambulatory practices, clinics, and locations across the pediatric service line, including procedural, clinic and infusion locations.

The Director of System Pediatric Ambulatory Operations will execute pediatric strategic plans to expand the children’s health system and ambulatory and physician network to ensure access in new and existing markets and focus on clinic optimization and integration of care across the system. The Director will have management accountability through the supervision of leaders at the facility(s) and will collaborate with other respective medical, administrative and service line leaders (e.g., BSD Administrators, Medical Directors, UCM Care Network leadership). In addition to providing operational oversight, this individual will be a key collaborator with all clinical departments across the system and a thought leader in ambulatory quality and safety, coordination of care across the continuum, use of technological tools and solutions, metrics reporting, customer service, and process improvement.

Who you are

An experienced and collaborative outpatient leader with:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s Degree Preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience overseeing an ambulatory practice framework.
  • Strong understanding of ambulatory and infusion operations and scheduling practices.
  • Experience in pediatric oncology ambulatory operations preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with effectively with physician leaders and in a highly matrix environment.
  • Exceptional talent in the selection and mentoring of a high-quality, effective management team; passion for inspiring and motivating teams.
  • Proven ability to lead change, organize teams, and delegate responsibility appropriately and effectively and clearly communicate at all levels.
  • Experience using data and LEAN methodologies to drive performance improvement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

What you’ll do as the Director of System Pediatric Ambulatory Operations:

  • Responsible for supporting consistent and efficient day-to-day operations for multiple practices, clinics and service lines across geographic locations ensuring access, budget and experience goals are achieved.
  • Oversee supportive services like supply chain, EVS, security, clinical engineering, etc.
  • Manage, develop, and mentor a leadership team that collaborates with department, section, hospital, and ancillary stakeholders to achieve quality, service, and financial outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with revenue cycle and finance department teams to assign accountability and optimize workflows and financial performance.
  • Responsible for report and metric analysis to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Ensure performance improvement, compliance/risk management, and regulatory/patient safety functions are developed, implemented, evaluated, and maintained across all areas of responsibility.
  • Develop and adhere to emergency response protocols unique to each site/service.
  • Manage hospital based and non-hospital based services according to federal, state, and organization regulations.
  • Responsible for provider onboarding, credentialing, and integration.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
