Under the supervision of the Office of Student Experience, the Director of Student Success holds a key role in leading the Student Success Team. This role provides oversight for the following student services and initiatives: mental health and social-emotional learning, behavioral needs, academic support, and family engagement. The Director of Student Success must collaborate across departments and divisions, including academic and residential leaders, to ensure coordinated academic, SEL, and behavioral Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) that lead to student academic achievement and excellence. The Director of Student Success has the responsibility of establishing and refining the structures and systems that will continue to evolve as we develop this team. In leading the Student Success Team, the Director of Student Success must possess the diverse skills and experience needed to guide the unique work of each role. This position plays a lead role in establishing community culture and expectations related to restorative practices, trauma-informed practices, social-emotional learning, and academic excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the Student Success Team by supervising social workers, behavior specialists, counselors, and other related positions and partners
- Plan and coordinate regularly scheduled cross-department and division student meetings, including MTSS meetings, with academic and residential faculty and staff
- Collaborate and coordinate with academic and residential faculty and staff to establish high-quality MTSS Tier 1 instruction for all students in the areas of social-emotional learning and behavior
- Lead the development and implementation of targeted and intensive MTSS student plans that are appropriate in addressing student needs, utilization of evidence-based intervention strategies and programs, monitoring the fidelity of service, and measuring progress
- Develop and implement effective behavior support systems that focus on restorative practices and improving behavior through the development of social skills
- Develop and lead family engagement initiatives and support strategies for family involvement; this includes overseeing formal and informal family/parent organizations
- Lead community efforts to build relationships and connections with families for the overall success of students
- Plan and lead community efforts in establishing a positive campus climate grounded in academic rigor and excellence
- Establish goals and metrics for evaluating student improvement, student achievement, and the overall success of the Success Team
- Build partnerships with community resources to support the work of the Success Team
- Provide professional learning or content for adult learners
- Demonstrate and maintain productive and positive interpersonal skills.
- Promote professional conversation and reflective thinking to impact positive campus culture
- Engage in continuous learning with evidence-based best practices in the relevant work of the departments
- As a leader in the community, support other programmatic initiatives as needed

QualificationsEducation and Related Work
Experience:
- Master’s degree or higher in Education in Counseling, Social Work or related field
- 5 or more years of experience working in education, with 2 or more in a leadership role
- Knowledge of social emotional learning, behavior support systems, academic interventions, counseling services, and MTSS
- Professional development facilitation skills
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Knowledge and strong belief in trauma-informed practices, restorative practices, and social emotional learning
