Job Description

The Director of Sourcing is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and executing Genie’s global sourcing strategy across direct and indirect materials, domestic and international supply bases, and production and non‑production spend. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Supply Chain, with a dotted‑line relationship to the President of Genie, reflecting its critical impact on cost structure, continuity of supply, and long‑term enterprise value.

The Director of Sourcing leads a team of Commodity Managers, Buyers, and International Supplier Quality Representatives, and is accountable for commercial excellence, year‑over‑year productivity (deflation), supplier performance, risk mitigation, and long‑term supplier partnerships. This leader will establish disciplined sourcing processes, negotiate and structure Long‑Term Agreements (LTAs), and ensure sourcing decisions support Genie’s growth, margin, and operational reliability objectives.

This role is both strategic and hands‑on, requiring deep commercial acumen, strong executive presence, and the ability to build scalable, predictable sourcing operations.

Sourcing Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute a global sourcing strategy for direct and indirect materials aligned with Genie’s business, financial, and operational goals.
  • Lead and develop a high performing team of Commodity Managers, Buyers, and Supplier Quality Representatives, setting clear expectations, accountability, and career development paths.
  • Establish Genie’s sourcing organization as a center of excellence, driving standardization, best practices, and disciplined execution across regions.

Commercial Excellence & Cost Productivity

  • Own all commercial negotiations including pricing, lead times, MOQs, payment terms, tooling, and contractual frameworks.
  • Structure, negotiate, and govern Long Term Agreements (LTAs) that balance cost competitiveness, capacity assurance, flexibility, and risk.
  • Deliver year over year productivity (deflation) through cost roadmaps, should cost modeling, VAVE initiatives, and supply base optimization.
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Finance to influence design to cost and total landed cost decisions early in the product lifecycle.

Supplier Performance, Risk & Continuity

  • Ensure supplier fulfillment performance, capacity planning, and delivery reliability meet Genie’s operational requirements.
  • Lead supplier risk management, including dual sourcing strategies, geographic risk mitigation, financial health assessments, and supplier Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
  • Oversee supplier quality performance in collaboration with International Supplier Quality teams to ensure compliance with Genie standards and customer expectations.

Operational Discipline & Systems

  • Enforce Oracle discipline as the system of record for pricing, supplier commitments, lead times, and sourcing data.
  • Ensure sourcing processes integrate seamlessly with SIOP, planning, manufacturing, and procurement execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement in sourcing processes, governance, and cross functional ways of working.

Executive & Cross Functional Partnership

  • Serve as a key thought partner to the VP of Supply Chain and President of Genie on cost structure, supply risk, and strategic supplier decisions.
  • Provide clear, data based insights and escalation on sourcing risks, opportunities, and tradeoffs.
  • Represent Genie with key strategic suppliers as an executive sponsor.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive sourcing, procurement, or supply chain leadership experience, including global supplier management.
  • Demonstrated success negotiating and managing complex LTAs in both domestic and international environments.
  • Proven track record of delivering sustained year over year cost productivity (deflation).
  • Strong experience with direct materials, indirect spend, and multi commodity environments.
  • Deep understanding of supplier risk management, fulfillment, and business continuity planning.
  • Experience leading and developing multi level global teams (commodity managers, buyers, supplier quality).
  • High level of financial and commercial acumen; ability to translate sourcing decisions into P&L impact.
  • Strong executive communication skills with the confidence to influence at the senior leadership level.
  • Hands on experience operating within ERP driven environments (Oracle strongly preferred).
