This role is based in our Menara Skymind office.

We're seeking an experienced Director of Software Engineering to lead our engineering organization, reporting directly to the VP of Product, Tech and Strategy You'll oversee our core technology platforms—the Omdia Customer Platform, data visualization tools, APIs and survey platform—while driving AI initiatives, enhancing customer experience, and strengthening platform fundamentals across security and integration.

You'll lead a team of 6 engineers plus outsourced resources, with the opportunity to grow the team strategically. This role requires both technical depth and the ability to translate business objectives into technical solutions while communicating effectively with non-technical stakeholders across our global organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute software engineering strategy aligned with Omdia's business objectives
• Lead AI initiatives to enhance research delivery, data analytics, and customer-facing capabilities
• Drive continuous improvement in customer experience across all platforms
• Strengthen platform security, integration, and technical infrastructure
• Oversee development of the Omdia Customer Platform, APIs, data visualization tools, and survey platform
• Manage AWS cloud infrastructure and Sitecore CMS, optimizing for performance and cost-efficiency
• Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team, managing both internal and outsourced resources
• Manage engineering budget, resource allocation, and vendor relationships to maximize ROI
• Establish and track effective KPIs to measure team performance, platform reliability, delivery velocity, and customer satisfaction
• Implement performance management processes including goal setting, regular feedback, and development planning
• Partner closely with Research Operations and Digital Product teams across global locations
• Implement Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and engineering best practices
• Balance technical debt management with new feature development
• Collaborate effectively across time zones and cultures within Informa's global organization

Qualifications

Experience

• 10+ years in software engineering with 5+ years leading engineering teams
• Proven track record in B2B technology, SaaS, data analytics, or information services
• Experience with customer-facing platforms and data visualization solutions
• Demonstrated success implementing AI/ML initiatives in production
• Background managing both internal teams and outsourced development resources
• Experience working in global organizations and managing distributed teams
• Strong budget management and financial planning experience

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of modern software architecture, microservices, and APIs (e.g. MuleSoft, OAuth2, etc.), experience with performance benchmarking, caching (Cloudflare/Redis), able to diagram architecture clearly and present trade-offs to stakeholders. Experience with multiple programming language, e.g. .Net, Java, python is a plus
• Experience with AWS/GCP cloud services and infrastructure management, (e.g., compute, storage, networking, managed databases, serverless, monitoring, etc.), with strong capability in cost management, reliability, and security
• Familiarity with CMS platforms (Sitecore experience is a plus), e.g. personalisation, search (Solr/Elastic), publishing, and performance tuning, integration with Salesforce, Marketo, Eloqua, etc.

• Hands-on experience with AI/ML technologies and practical business implementation, understanding large language models (Gemini, Grok, etc.), knowledge of vector databases, AI tools like LangChain, AWS Bedrock, practices for evaluation, monitoring, AI integration with Copilot, Claude.
• Knowledge of data visualization technologies and integration patterns, experience using SQL and analytics/BI tooling such as Power BI or Tableau; experience integrating data sources (CSV, AWS RedShift, Alteryx) and building interactive web visualisations (e.g., Chart.js, Google Charts, etc.) where applicable
• Deep understanding of security best practices and data protection, IAM design (least privilege), secrets management (AWS Secrets Manager), vulnerability scanning (Snyk), WAF (AWS/Cloudflare WAF)
• Nice to have: proven ability to evaluate and roll out AI-assisted development (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Vibe coding), workflow automation (e.g., Jira/ServiceNow/GitHub).

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required
• Master's degree preferred, MBA a plus
