Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Director of Software Development to lead and guide the development team on a day-to-day basis.

This is a leadership role for a highly technical individual who can oversee execution, enforce timelines, improve development processes, and ensure high-quality software delivery.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with operational discipline, playing a key role in shaping the software development lifecycle while remaining actively involved in problem-solving and technical decision-making.

Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Team Execution:

  • Provide daily technical direction, mentorship, and oversight to the development team
  • Review code, resolve blockers, and ensure quality, consistency, and accountability
  • Step into development work, debugging, or technical problem-solving when required
  • Establish and enforce timelines, ensuring on-time and high-quality delivery
  • Identify skill gaps, support team development, and assist with hiring decisions
  • Promote a productive, accountable, and solution-focused development environment

Software Development Lifecycle & Delivery:

  • Partner with leadership to define priorities, timelines, and deliverables
  • Oversee all phases of development, including new builds, enhancements, maintenance, and support
  • Continuously improving workflows, QA/testing standards, documentation, and release readiness
  • Ensure systems are built for performance, scalability, usability, and long-term maintainability
  • Support automation and AI initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and data-driven processes

Deployments & Technical Standards:

  • Oversee release planning, production deployments, and version control practices
  • Ensure proper rollback planning and post-deployment support processes
  • Advise leadership on architecture, system improvements, technical risks, and security practices
  • Maintain high standards for data integrity, access control, and system reliability

Collaboration & Business Support:

  • Communicate clearly across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Work cross-functionally to clarify requirements, solve issues, and align solutions with business needs
  • Provide transparency around risks, timelines, and progress

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of software development experience, including senior-level technical leadership
  • Strong full-stack experience (e.g., .NET, C#, SQL Server, NestJS, Git)
  • Solid front-end knowledge (e.g., Angular, React, UI/UX principles)
  • Proven experience leading developers, reviewing code, and managing delivery from planning through deployment
  • Strong communication, ownership, attention to detail, and accountability
  • Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on technical involvement
