Job Description
The Director of Security is responsible for implementing and overseeing crucial safety measures within our organization; with a strong focus in protecting our teammates, visitors, and assets while ensuring compliance with regulations and industry best practices. The Director of Security will lead the development and execution of strategies, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and foster a secure environment for all stakeholders.
The Director of Security provides exemplary service in a manner consistent with the values and mission of the Castle Group. He or she performs all responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills representative of Castle Royal Service.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day security operations, conducting regular security inspections.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the security guard teammates, including scheduling, reviewing/approving payroll and assigning duties
- Community liaison between security and management to ensure positive relations and transparency of our roles within the community. Ensures the security team is briefed on all issues pertaining to the community.
- Create Standard Operating Procedures (Post Orders), including emergency procedures, while managing and training security guards to ensure they always follow protocols & procedures.
- Assists security guards with peak time traffic and willing to work open shifts including weekends, as needed.
- Establish relations with law enforcement and key personnel
- Reviews, monitors and adheres to the departmental budget, making necessary recommendations to Property Manager.
- Compile comprehensive security and incidents reports (to include pictures and all necessary documentation) to ensure Management is advised for proper follow-up.
- Attends Board meetings as needed to provide updates and review security reports
- Assists with hurricane preparation before, during and after a storm
- Presents security improvement ideas including new technology, that could benefit the community.
- Understands how to operate and review security cameras along with CCTV.
- Investigates security threats or breaches and reports concerns to the Property Manager and provides actionable recommendations.
- Provide follow up to escalated resident issues by returning emails and phone calls
- Regularly monitors and inspects security equipment (i.e. gates, security system, patrol vehicle etc.)
- Provide on-site assistance with community events as needed.
- Ensure direct reports complete all required training, both in-person and online, required for their position.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly manage team of 2 or more
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Castle’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training, developing and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalency required.
- Security Officer D license from the State of Florida
- A valid Florida driver’s license and a driving record in good standing.
- 5+ years as a Security supervisor or similar position
- Prior experience managing and leading a team
- Active CPR and AED Certification preferred
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills to help create effective customer-focused relationships with all levels within the organization.
- Able to work under tight deadlines and use time effectively based on key priorities.
- Intermediate command of computer hardware/software, specifically Microsoft Office Suite.

- Visual ability correctable to 20/20.
- Ability to respond verbally in an understandable, professional manner in person and over the telephone.
- On call 24/7 and accessible especially evenings and weekends for emergencies.
- May be required to travel for off-site trainings
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends if needed.
