Job Description

The Director of Sales leads all revenue-generating efforts for the hotel, with a primary focus on developing long-term business, strengthening community relationships, and driving extended-stay performance. This role requires a proactive, relationship-driven leader who thrives on building partnerships and executing disciplined sales strategies.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and grow business from corporate, government, relocation, project based, and crew accounts to maximize revenue with a focus on extended stay revenue.
  • Conduct proactive sales activities including prospecting, outside sales calls, networking, and participation in community and industry events.
  • Maintain strong account management practices through organized CRM usage, accurate production tracking, and timely follow up.
  • Host property tours, respond to inquiries, and prepare proposals that reflect brand standards and hotel value.
  • Collaborate closely with the General Manager, Regional Director of Sales and Revenue Management to develop and execute strategies that optimize pricing, mix, and length of stay.
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process and contribute to the revenue portion of the hotel budget.
  • Support the development and execution of the Annual Marketing Plan.
  • Maintain strong internal communication with operations, front desk, and housekeeping to ensure seamless service delivery for long term guests.
  • Prepare required sales reports accurately and on schedule.
  • Uphold company policies, standards of appearance, and service expectations.
  • Represent the hotel and Mid-Continent Hospitality with professionalism, integrity, and a positive leadership presence.
  • Travel up to 50% within city limits as required; overnight travel up to 10% for industry or corporate sponsored events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills/ Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of hospitality and/or property management preferred.
  • Ability to complete tasks quickly with little to no guidance and react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software with the ability to learn new or updated software.
  • Major brand experience required, preferably Marriott.

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Hospitality preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as in Hospitality Sales and Marketing preferred.
  • Strong mathematical skills to collect, measure, organize and analyze data
  • Valid Driver’s License with MVR in good standing.
  • Proven record of meeting or exceeding sales /catering goals.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to travel long distances via vehicle or air as permitted.
  • Long hours sometimes required, including some nights and weekends.
