Built on a legacy of quality and innovation, we are seeking a Director of Sales to join our team and support our continued growth.

This role will be involved in leading and driving Cool Gear’s sales distribution with brick and mortar retail customers including growing existing business and developing new business.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Sales

  • Create, develop or modify sales strategy, planning and distribution through channel and customer segmentation.
  • Manage relationships at key accounts and perform direct accounts sales to strengthen customer relations and increase market presence.
  • Prospect new customers or expand existing customers into additional departments or relevant categories.
  • Direct, coordinate, and program manage sales efforts to ensure profitable sales growth and product mix objectives are attained while expanding points of distribution.

Customer Service

  • Manage customer relationships to maintain highest required service levels.
  • Act as a customer liaison between internal teams and customers related to customer order management.
  • Manage customer contract negotiation with legal and finance teams.
  • Attend trade shows as required to provide additional sales support for the sales organization.

Employee Management

  • Manage and direct sales team efforts through sales prospecting on identified customers.
  • Lead, coach, train and manage a team of sales direct reports to ensure cohesive results related to sales goals, work collaboration across departments, effective communication and performance management.
  • Mange, direct and support a team of independent sales representatives and distributors.

Finance/Margin Work

  • Review account quotes, proposals and determine price to ensure margin goal adherence and product sell-through.
  • Negotiate pricing and customer marketing allowances while maintaining internal goal margins.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the finance team to communicate sales budgets, outlooks and product demand forecasts are updated timely.

Reporting

  • Manage sales pipeline content and reporting.
  • Prepare and submit required sales reports, administrative reports and forecasts on a timely basis.
  • Design, develop, or maintain customer point of sale reporting.

Product

  • Develop a deep understanding of the competitive landscape to determine white space to create sales pitches to solve for the customer need.
  • Connect product capabilities with market and customer demand.
  • Collaborate and communicate with product development to create custom designed product to differentiate in store and in market.
  • Develop and deliver compelling and informative presentations.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

A suitable background would be a solid experience within the following qualifications and experiences:

Minimum

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  • Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of retail package goods related experience. Proven track record in Consumer Product sales to various classes of trade to include sporting goods, specialty, department stores, .com, and housewares retailers.
  • 50% travel

Preferred

  • MBA preferred with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of related experience within the retail consumer package goods environment selling to mass market retailers.
  • Experience in an entrepreneurial environment with proven success building a business.
  • International Sales Experience.
