Full-Time | Exempt
Salary: $50,000 per year

The Director of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) rehabilitation program in Kansas City, MO. This role is responsible for managing addiction recovery services, counseling programs, staff supervision, compliance, budgeting, and community partnerships while ensuring alignment with The Salvation Army’s Christian mission and values [Director o...n Services | Word], [DRS Extern...g Template | Word]

This position is ideal for experienced behavioral health leaders or addiction recovery professionals seeking a mission‑driven nonprofit leadership role.

Duties & Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Clinical Oversight

  • Provide leadership for residential substance use disorder (SUD) recovery programs
  • Oversee individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and beneficiary orientation
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements as needed
  • Ensure integration of faith‑based recovery principles with evidence‑based practices
  • Collaborate with Operations to integrate work therapy into rehabilitation plans
  • Assess beneficiaries’ spiritual needs and facilitate referrals to Chaplain/Administration

Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting in compliance with Salvation Army ARC policies
  • Monitor electronic beneficiary records and data entry for accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare required program reports for administration and grant requirements
  • Chair rehabilitation staff and grant meetings

Financial Management

  • Participate in annual budget preparation for the program department
  • Review monthly expenditures and maintain alignment with approved budgets

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Recruit, train, and supervise counseling and rehabilitation staff
  • Provide staff training on ARC Program Manual, Beneficiary Handbook, and policies
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and corrective action when needed
  • Manage staffing schedules and approve timecards
  • Supervise internship and training programs

Community Engagement

  • Build relationships with community agencies for referrals and coordinated care
  • Represent The Salvation Army mission in professional and community settings

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Behavioral Health, Human Services, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of administrative or leadership experience in addiction services or behavioral health
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to qualify for Salvation Army insurance
  • Personal commitment to Christian living and belief in spiritual regeneration
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Licensure / Certification

Missouri:

  • CADC, CRADC, LPC

Kansas:

  • LAC, LCAC, LMSW

  • Occasional warehouse/store visits (closed‑toe, rubber‑soled shoes required)
  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

  • Minimal national travel for training
